About the Space Systems R&D Team

The Space Systems R&D Team is a multidisciplinary team within the Engineering department. We keep our eye out for the state-of-the-art technologies and bring them to the space vehicle to implement the product road map. Members of the teamwork across the organization to collaborate on requirements and implementation approaches to deliver innovative new systems. This means we look for lifelong learners who are eager to go out of their comfort zone to understand the needs of the teams around them.

We are seeking a Guidance, Navigation and Control Engineering Lead to enhance our next generation vehicles with ever growing capabilities. You should take enjoyment from tackling hard problems in spacecraft state knowledge, pointing control, and navigation.

What you’ll do

 

  • Understand and refine requirements for: attitude knowledge and pointing, agility, line-of-sight stability, orbit position knowledge and delta-v accuracy.
  • Provide analyses for: attitude knowledge and pointing budget, orbit determination and trajectory budget, agility analysis, maneuver settling, component selection & placement, emergency mode, dynamics & control system stability.
  • Understand GN&C components’ interfaces.
  • Lead Integration and Testing of the ADCS and Prop Systems
  • Support the development, test and evaluation of hardware, software, support equipment and systems
  • Manage vendor contracts and reviews

 

Requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required, plus 10 or more years related experience.
  • Experience in Guidance, Navigation, Control (GNC), Attitude Determination & Control Subsystem (ADCS), Dynamics & Control Systems, or related space vehicle systems is desired.
  • Advanced computer application skills, such as Linux, Python, C, C++ and other analytical tools is a strong plus.
  • Experience with simulator/hardware test development and execution, as well as mission operations is a plus.

Required Qualifications (optional-dependent of the requirements):

  • This position requires special access to conduct the work and requires the selected candidate to be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.
