Job Description

Founded just over four years ago, Graphcore's growth and impact has been little short of staggering. We have created a completely new processor, the Intelligence Processing Unit (IPU), specifically designed for artificial intelligence. The IPU’s unique architecture means developers can run current machine learning models orders of magnitude faster. More importantly, it lets AI researchers undertake entirely new types of work, not possible using current technologies, to drive the next great breakthroughs in general machine intelligence.

Our team is at the forefront of the artificial intelligence revolution, enabling innovators from all industries and sectors to expand human potential with technology.

What we do really makes a difference.

What you’ll be doing

As our Director, Developer Relations, you’ll drive the strategic vision and execution of ML developer relations and technical community development at Graphcore. Reporting into the VP Marketing, this role is all about empowering and enabling AI developers globally to take advantage of Graphcore technologies to do what they love: innovate, code and learn.

You will have experience of building technical communities in the field of AI and have the desire to interact directly with customers, partners, and internal teams including engineering, research, product and marketing to drive the growth of Graphcore technologies through community engagements.

Key responsibilities

Create and lead the development, implementation, and evolution of a comprehensive developer relations strategy covering developer experience, education, and evangelism
Build and grow our AI developer community: Inspire, educate and enable developers to be successful through content (blogs, podcasts, tutorials), communications channels like Slack, Stack OverFlow, Reddit, and more.
Articulate and manage the developer journey from GitHub to website to documentation
Ensure a world class user onboarding journey to get the developer to a wow "hello world" moment as soon as possible
Help make our user experience more intuitive by creating meaningful, shareable developer resources, contributing to our docs, and relaying developer feedback to internal teams, translating developer needs into prioritized feature development
Build and lead a global team of developer advocates and technical educators to build an active, loyal, and passionate technical community
Secure speaking engagements at high profile conferences and smaller scale events

What you’ll bring

You’ll have demonstrable experience of leading in-house developer relations programs in the ML field. Alongside this, you’ll also bring the following skills and experience:

Ability to think like a developer and be passionate about making ML developers happy; even better, you know how to code and have hands-on ML experience
Plugged into AI developer communities and have cultivated a diverse personal network. A strong understanding of ML communities, and empathy for ML developers’ challenges
Keen to keep your existing technical skills honed and develop new ones, so you can make substantive contributions to technical discussions
Solid experience in building high performing teams and coaching people to thrive in a fast-paced environment
A positive, optimistic, and collaborative attitude
Outstanding content creation, public speaking and presentation skills. Established credibility and recognition in speaking engagements and technology publications is preferred

Qualifications

Substantial experience working in a developer relations, technology evangelism or a relevant technical role, such as product management
Bachelors and/or Master’s degree in computer science (or equivalent experience)

We welcome people of different backgrounds and experiences and are committed to building an inclusive work environment that makes Graphcore a great home for everyone. We are an equal opportunity employer and want to build a work environment where everyone is happy, productive and respectful so they can do their best work.
