Job Description

The Role:

We are looking for a strategic, business and process-oriented finance leader who is eager to “roll up their sleeves” and drive innovative and efficient processes to lay the foundation for a best-in-class Finance team. As the Head of Finance, you will oversee forecasting and budget management, fundraising efforts, compliance, and all aspects of accounting and finance operations.


  • Manage the financial health of the business by partnering with the Executive team
  • Drive alignment, focus, and outcomes across all functions with financial planning, budget management, compliance, controls, and analytical insight
  • Develop and drive necessary financial policies, procedures, and internal controls, and play a leading role in directing change initiatives and process improvements
  • Lead the budgeting and financial model building process alongside Executive Team
  • Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, and Revenue Recognition
  • Establish and maintain documentation of internal controls, policies, and procedures related to financial reporting and compliance
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and GAAP, as well as local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Ensure appropriate controls are incorporated in the development of new systems with a relentless focus to ensure systems are both efficient and scalable
  • Oversee and assist in tax filings and compliance documentation
  • Partner with executive team on investor & fund-raising procedures


  • 8+ years software experience within the finance function preferably including some experience at an early stage/mid stage software company
  • Strong experience in enterprise SaaS domain from an FP&A and finance operations standpoint
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership role, and the proven ability to build and scale successful teams with international/remote teams
  • Prior experience is fund raising activities from institutional investors
  • A successful track record operating and demonstrating effective communication with stakeholders at every level
  • A deep knowledge of traditional SaaS/ software sales go-to-market approaches
  • Experience with Salesforce, QuickBooks, NetSuite, Xpensify etc.

Background and Opportunity

The hourly workforce currently makes up almost 60% of the overall labor market in the United States. These 80 million hourly workers are the driving force behind many of our largest domestic industries, including food and beverage, retail, and hospitality. Workforce management has historically been difficult due to high churn (60% on average and high cost of replacement ($3,200 per employee in retail on average). Now new requirements are developing as generation Z enters this market. The retail vertical alone spends $62 billion a year on replacing workers, and over 50% of hourly workers leave their jobs because of flexibility reasons.

In our modern economy, hourly workers want gig-like flexibility, mobile-first technology, and compelling work options. They want to use a mobile phone app to schedule work, not haggle with their manager over schedule changes every week. Also, employers increasingly need a flexible and efficient labor model that supports retail innovations (think pop-up stores, home delivery, mobile ordering, and service options) that today’s modern customer needs and often demands. Mid-market organizations have never had a technology platform to manage their hourly workers, and enterprises are stuck with old legacy software (think Kronos and Infor) that’s ineffective for users and the companies managing today’s modern hourly workforce.
