Job Description

The Director of Deliverability is responsible for all aspects of Deliverability Services for Zeta Global CRM. The primary focus is the delivery and deliverability of bulk and real-time mail including, marketing and transactional streams. Responsibilities include providing consulting to account teams and clients on delivery and data quality, recipient engagement, and overall program performance and reputation.

This role includes management of a geographically dispersed Deliverability team; defining of Deliverability products and services; creation and presentation of sales materials; consulting engagements with Zeta clients; client management of paid Deliverability services; representation of Zeta in industry groups (ex: ESPC); training of other Zeta teams on Deliverability topics and sales strategies; communication of Zeta’s Point of View on changes, issues, and other topics in the Deliverability industry; and collaboration with other Zeta teams to help ensure the best Deliverability results possible for Zeta’s customers including collaboration with support teams to ensure best-in-class delivery and throughput with ZMP.

The Director of Deliverability leads the Deliverability Team so that the group provides sound operational and strategic guidance to optimize client email performance and deliverability success. The Director of Deliverability is a subject matter expert on maximizing the effectiveness of their email campaigns in terms of sending rate, % delivered, inbox placement, and reputation by maximizing consumer engagement. The Director of Deliverability is a subject matter expert on technical aspects of email deployment and system requirements needed to maximize and ensure delivery as specified by best practices and ISP requirements.

Needed: A leader, manager, and Deliverability Subject Matter Expert with strong communication and time management skills, who possesses the ability to work with a geographically dispersed team and clients.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages the Deliverability Team in all respects, from hiring to ensuring that SLA’s are met, onboarding clients and strategic advice
  • Provides strategic guidance and recommendations to account teams and clients on improving email deliverability and recipient engagement, improving program performance, best practices
  • Participates and manages relationships with Deliverability industry groups and email coalitions
  • Creates process and industry documentation for internal and external consumption
  • Leads in streamlining current deliverability process, creating new processes for monitoring and onboarding, and ensuring minimum requirements according to best practices around sending infrastructure as well as creating new services and tools for Deliverability
  • Proactive in gaining knowledge of new industry trends, emerging technology, ISP treatment of commercial email, industry groups, and recipient behavior
  • Comfortable with client-facing role responsibilities and presentations both remote or in person
  • Defines, communicates, and promotes Zeta’s Deliverability services and products
  • Coordinate and collaborates with Account teams, Product Management, System Support, and Sales to ensure best-in-class Deliverability strategies, product performance, and product roadmap
  • Manage 3rd party partners to create value-added services that improve and/or enhance Deliverability for clients
  • Engage the privacy and legal teams to identify or solve potential client issues and next steps as well as potential AUP policy changes
  • Audit Zeta’s platform to ensure its sending technology meets ISP requirements and is flexing with the ever changing Deliverability landscape including retry formulas, concurrent connections, throughput, mail deferrals, implementation settings, header definitions (list-unsub, HELO, etc.), naming conventions, authentication protocols and security layers
  • Partner with the Deliverability Team in all aspects of BAU activities including monitoring system, network, and client performance as well as ISP performance to identify early problems/trends and investigating, diagnosing, and resolving Deliverability issues and escalations

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has a team with a target size of 9 direct reports and will mentor the team and less experienced associates in the role. Dotted line responsibility for off-shore Deliverability team.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Proficient in multiple email deliverability tools, products, and services
  • Deep knowledge of the email marketing industry – ESP’s, ISP’s, government regulations/laws (CAN-SPAM, CASL, GDPR, etc.), email marketing best practices, email content’s impact on deliverability, data hygiene, underlying technology/protocols used to send and authenticate email (SMTP, TCP/IP, SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Proven interpersonal skills in dealing with associates, management, account executives and other outside teams
  • Demonstrated success coordinating or managing projects to completion
  • Troubleshooting and problem resolution skills (diagnosis, option assessment, recommendation and escalation)
  • High standards of accuracy and aptitude for detail-oriented work
  • Strong time management skills
  • Self-starter with excellent teamwork skills, including ability to work with a geographically dispersed team

Preferred:

  • Experience providing services with a company that offers an ESP marketing platform
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience within online/email marketing space
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience within email deliverability space
