DNAnexus Academy aims to build high-demand skills in bioinformatics, data science, and data governance and security, to help our clients effectively use our solutions to achieve their research and clinical objectives, and to convert novices to evangelists. The DNAnexus Academy Trainer works across multiple departments and stays abreast of DNAnexus product roadmap to keep the training programs relevant and ahead of demand. Training may take place remotely via web-conferencing, synchronously or asynchronously via a learning management system, and in -person.
Responsibilities
- Take an active role in the development of bioinformatics, translational informatics, and/or data science training courses designed to leverage the strengths of the DNAnexus platform
- Take an active role in the delivery of the content to DNAnexus customers, which range from the pharmaceutical industry to academic research and medical centers
- Help to develop a coordinated curriculum content for learners at varying levels of knowledge and experience, from beginner to intermediate to advanced
- Support the implementation of online and in-person teaching methods that engages learners in a highly interactive environment
- Develop training materials suitable to in-person and online training
- Work collaboratively with members of the DNAnexus Academy
Qualifications
Skills & Requirements:
- Master’s or PhD degree (or equivalent experience) in bioinformatics, data science, software engineering, or education.
- Experience in bioinformatics to support basic, translational and/or clinical research in a biotech, pharma, academic or healthcare environment.
- Proficient with programming languages and tools such as R, Python, Java, and Jupyter Notebook.
- Familiarity with advanced analytical concepts such as data modeling, big data, and machine learning.
- Possess a working knowledge of various NGS technologies (eg. bulk and single cell RNA-Seq, variant analysis, ChIP-Seq, WGS/WES) and analysis tools/pipelines
- Experience working in a high-growth start-up environment.
- Self-starter, highly proactive with the ability to work with minimal guidance and direction.
