Job Description

This is a new role within Otrium. We are looking for a talented, highly motivated, team player who can build our Legal department to support the organization. Right now, lots of fashion stays unsold. For the resources that went in and for the people who miss out, it’s such a shame. We’re here to fix this. We are an online fashion outlet marketplace and we tech-enable designer brands to find an owner for every item they produce.

We give brands an online outlet channel and digital tools to smartly connect dynamically-priced end-of-season collections with fashion-lovers. Then we give them the data so they can reproduce most-wanted items.

Our app re-imagines outlet shopping helping customers easily find reduced-price gems. We give end-of-season fashion a new start, which is smarter for the wardrobe, smarter for the wallet and smarter for the industry.

About this role

As the first Legal Counsel at Otrium you will be the go to person for all different legal questions and issues. At this moment we only use external advisors, you will be taking over most of these cross-departmental projects and take the lead. Be the internal advisor and manage big impactful, global projects. Next to your own projects, you will coordinate and manage external advisors/firms.

Role responsibilities

  • Review and negotiate complex agreements that meet the company’s requirements under its policies, including those for risk tolerance, while working collaboratively with the business team, including various executives;

  • Collaborate with finance, sales operations, partnership, product operations, HR and other business units at all levels throughout the organization to ensure that agreements adequately protect the company’s interests;
  • Support the continuous improvement of standard forms of agreement and legal processes;
  • Be a trusted business partner, responding in a timely and productive manner to requests from internal customers;
  • Counsel internal customers regarding company policies, legal issues, and risk tolerance;
  • Specifying internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance.

Experience, knowledge & skills

  • Master degree qualification, with solid post qualification experience in middle or top tier law firm and/or a large multinational organization is crucial;

  • 6+ years of relevant legal experience and you’re a master of corporate law;
  • You’ve extensive experience in conflict / settlement resolution;
  • Excellent negotiating and influencing skills, and a talent for non-confrontational, win-win negotiations;
  • Exceptional critical thinking abilities, who possesses strong business acumen and excellent business judgment; must be able to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and pivot between responsibilities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to distill complex issues clearly and communicate well both one-on-one and in groups, and in internal and external contexts.

  • You have an entrepreneurial mindset. We are a scale-up, a lot of building together, create the legal department;
  • Strong project management approach, excellent time-management and organizational skills with a solid understanding of legal operations;
  • Proactive, with a flexible attitude and great influencing - and communication skills;
  • Comfortable to act as organizational conscience, balancing sound regulatory compliance with a hands-on business culture.
