Job Description

We’re home to 5,000 phenomenal small creative businesses that we are proud to call our Partners.  But, now more than ever, this community needs our support.  So we’re doing all we can to shine a light on these dynamic entrepreneurs, waving the flag for small businesses and generally championing their socks off.
 
On top of our brilliant Partners, products and customers (not to mention our incredible team who have been busy beavering away from home since March), the last 12 months has seen  great progress with our tech platform and customer experience. We are now looking to build on this momentum to drive our business to the next level. And that’s where you come in.
 
The role
 
As our Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the day to day running of the core finance function, continuing to build a robust efficient finance team and platform with best practice controls, processes and systems.
 
Reporting into the CFO, and working closely with the Commercial Finance Team, you will be the custodian of the numbers while ensuring the finance team are providing the business with all its finance support requirements.
 
Please note - this role will likely last for up to 9 months to fill a critical vacancy, after which it will be assessed.

What you’ll be doing

    • Managing a team of 6 (3 direct reports)
    • Overseeing month end reporting cycle (reporting on day 5)
    • Overseeing the audit 
    • Authorising payment runs
    • Preparation of monthly management accounts, variance analysis and inputting into quarterly reporting
    • Preparation of annual statutory accounts
    • Continue to improve the functionality of Netsuite & associated reports
    • Manage ongoing relationships with banks, insurers and other 3rd parties
    • Responsible for Tax, overseeing VAT returns, reviewing corporation tax return prepared by 3rd party accountants and R&D claims
    • Accounting treatment of various share schemes
    • Managing the company’s cashflow
    • Responsible for the risk register 
    • Responsible for implementing the procurement policy
    • Various ad hoc projects (eg advising on accounting & tax treatment)

Some key skills and experience you'll need...

    • You are a qualified accountant with at least 4 years PQE
    • You are a passionate leader with great interpersonal skills, able to delegate to a competent team
    • You have experience in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
    • You have strong Excel knowledge and experience of Netsuite
    • You have strong presentation skills
    • You are able to engage effectively incorporating different ways of working with a variety of different stakeholders
    • You are happy to get your hands dirty
    • You are a good communicator
    • You are organised and detail oriented
    • You are able to explain complex concepts in simple language
