Job Description

Role Overview:
The Director of Machine Learning Platform & Modeling will drive strategic programs related to Lacework’s core capabilities in AI-based cloud security. The team is responsible for the end-to-end implementation of high-velocity machine learning pipelines, tooling to facilitate rapid model development, a multi-faceted behavioral anomaly detection engine, and a robust roadmap of forward-looking opportunities to expand our core differentiators.

About the Role:

  • Lead a team to develop and implement a robust ML platform and family of models that can support rapid implementation of new AI-based approaches to cloud security.
  • Evolve and mature the core behavioral-based anomaly detection (Polygraph) to support new cloud datacenter paradigms.
  • Working with the product teams and architects, define the roadmap for the team that balances the outside-in perspective against the inside-out, while also finding harmony between tactical and strategic solutions.
  • Adopt and customize leading open-source frameworks, e.g., Kubeflow and MLflow, to leverage existing solutions while tailoring capabilities to Lacework’s stringent and specific ML needs.
  • Design core ML infrastructure for model versioning, customer-specific model customization, pre-deployment testing, and performance tracking to meet the rigorous requirements demanded by the high-stakes security domain.
  • Expand ML applications throughout the organization by reducing the barrier to entry for deploying and maintaining new ML models and developing easy-to-use and general-purpose infrastructure.
  • Operationally support the use of ML models in a production environment, focusing on observability and predictive indicators to maintain stringent SLOs for Lacework customers.
  • Partner with quality engineering and DevOps to improve both agility and quality of the Lacework product, supporting rapid CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code constructs to automate everything from testing to production delivery.

About You:

  • 2-4 years leading ML platform and/or data modeling teams in an external-customer-facing context.
  • 6+ years experience leading engineering teams (Ideally within the SaaS / big data space).
  • 5-7 years of hands-on experience with data modeling and analysis, especially with distinctive data sources in both relational and non-relational paradigms.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to design for scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Working knowledge/experience with modern cloud deployment models (including containers, object stores, secrets & access managers, etc)
  • MS or Ph.D. in computer science or similar.
