About Dija

Dija is on a mission to make this vision a reality.

Founded by former Deliveroo executives Alberto Menolascina and Yusuf Saban, Dija combines guaranteed stock availability, an innovative UI and ultra-fast delivery through our proprietary technology, liberating customers from the drag of supermarket shopping and unavailable delivery slots.
Dija is backed by top tier VCs, having raised one of Europe’s largest seed rounds in history - $20 million.

Job Description

About Dija

Groceries delivered in 10 minutes. Sounds too good to be true, right? Think again.

You see, people are busy living their lives, which means they have better things to do than wander up and down the supermarket aisles or wait an eternity for their online delivery to arrive. Rain or shine, Dija delivers your groceries in 10 minutes.

Right now, we’re working around the clock to bring 10 minute grocery delivery to millions of people around the world, but we need exceptional people to make this happen. And by exceptional, we mean people with a huge amount of drive and grit to build the largest retailer in the world.

About the Role

We are seeking highly organised, resourceful, and solution-oriented talent. We are creating a passionate team of high performing peers who thrive in a fast-paced startup environment. If this sounds like you, then our role of Data Engineer might be your new home.

In this role you will be joining our Data Engineering Team based in London, working closely with Business Intelligence, Data Science and the wider Engineering team. Your team’s mission is to ultimately make data a strategic asset for Dija, and to drive decision making throughout the company.

You will be building a best-in-class data, product and marketing tech stack, that collects and leverages data from a wide variety of sources. This system is the foundation to all analytics & data science projects at Dija, and powers microservices and data products that automate and optimise decisions and processes across all teams.

We are building for scale. As such, much of what we design and implement today will be the technology/infrastructure which will serve hundreds of teams across the world.

Duties & Responsibilities

As a Data Engineer you will:

  • Be part of a team building a world-class analytics data warehouse that is available to our community of analysts and data scientists to work from.
  • Help define and maintain a data model to build a holistic understanding of our customers, products and market, enabling a wide range of problems to be solved.
  • Develop and maintain integrations between internal, third-party and external data sources.
  • Support the implementation and integration of third-party tools that build our Marketing, Product, Retail & Operations tech stacks.
  • Maintain our machine learning and automated decision systems that optimise our customer experience and team efficiency.
  • Work to our engineering standards for the team in terms of coding & workflow best practices, tooling and documentation.
  • Look for opportunities for how Dija uses data, collaborating with senior engineers and the business.
  • Ensure your work is compliant with regulations and our customer’s consent.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience Required

  • You possess a strong data background, with the ability to contribute towards technical discussions at all levels.
  • You have experience writing high quality, production level code to manage large datasets and products.
  • Believe in using the right tool for the right job...we are technology agnostic in our hiring process but we would require you to be able to write code in at least one platform-related data language (Python, Ruby, Scala etc.)
  • You’re a strong communicator and have worked cross-functionally with disciplines from operations to design, growth to finance, and are confident leading projects with senior stakeholders
  • You care about impact, love a challenge, and take ownership of your work.
  • You’re a proven leader who cares about the team, is keen to share your knowledge and is open to giving (and receiving) continuous feedback.

  • Join one of the fastest scaling and high profile startups in Europe
  • Shape your role and the company
  • Experience a workplace that is entrepreneurial, fast-paced, solution-focused, disciplined, team-oriented and fun
  • Flexible working to support families and varying needs
  • Competitive compensation package and generous stock options
  • 20 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Pension scheme
  • Company discount and free goodies
  • Regular team-wide events
  • Cycle to work scheme (in progress)

Please note that unfortunately we cannot provide visa sponsorship, and to be considered for this role, candidates must be able to provide proof of their eligibility to work in the UK.
