Job Description

Flipboard is a content discovery platform designed to inform and inspire the world. Available on web, iOS, and Android, Flipboard offers the world important and influential articles, videos, podcasts and products shared by the greatest publishers and our vibrant Flipboard community to advance conversation, keep people informed, and inspire them to engage, learn, and lead.

We are seeking a results-driven Search Engine Optimization Manager to own the development and implementation of SEO initiatives across the Flipboard website. This role requires a proven track record in managing an SEO keyword pipeline and content strategy, an understanding of technical SEO, and analytical skills to develop strategies grounded in data. A successful candidate will be an advocate for platform SEO best practices and well-versed in what it takes to optimize a high-traffic website for search engine discoverability. 

All teams at Flipboard are working remotely during the pandemic; this role may work remotely during and after the pandemic from anywhere in the United States.


Responsibilities

  • Perform keyword research on an ongoing basis to develop a pipeline for high performing landing pages
  • Develop and manage successful SEO campaigns including managing and analyzing best-in-class top-of-funnel landing pages with a focus on cross-linking, content quality and other SEO best practices that engage and convert
  • Analyze, track and report on overall natural search performance, using data to report progress on key initiatives with insights that will shape future SEO strategies
  • Audit the Flipboard website to find opportunities to grow the natural search channel
  • Diagnose issues that are impacting SEO, come up with solutions and implement fixes
  • Educate stakeholders on SEO best practices and evangelize SEO best practices across the organization
  • Identify and negotiate backlinks
  • Partner with engineers and product managers on projects that grow SEO traffic 
  • Maintain a library of documentation and articles that educate the organization on SEO best practices

Desired Skills & Experience 

  • In-house Search Engine OptimizationExperience managing SEO content and keyword strategy for a large, global website (Ideally 3-5 years)
  • Working knowledge of current search engine ranking factors and industry best practices
  • Working knowledge of basic SEO concepts (keyword research, user intent, crawlability, mobile-friendly, page speed, etc.)
  • Familiarity with technical SEO concepts such as content optimization, XML sitemaps, structured data, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, information architecture, & a strong developer/I.T. understanding
  • Experience using enterprise SEO tools such as Google Webmaster Tools, Moz, seoClarity, ScreamingFrog, Botify, etc.
  • Strong proficiency in analytics (e.g. Google Analytics) and A/B testing frameworks, preferably proficient with SQL.
  • Ability to interpret data and make business recommendations
  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders across all levels of the organization
  • Highly disciplined and organized, self-motivated, looking for personal growth
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Nice to have’s: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or other related field preferred OR 4+ years’ relevant professional experience
