Job Description

As part of the Finance/Accounting team, you will play a key role in our SEC reporting and technical accounting efforts. You will assume a vital role working collaboratively across the Finance team and the Company to ensure activities are recorded and reported in accordance with US GAAP and internal accounting policies. You will assist in conducting critical research to advise on the financial reporting implications of new and amended agreements and accounting standards, and help formulate position papers. The ideal candidate should have SEC and financial reporting experience, a strong technical accounting background, and be comfortable navigating through complex matters to support the growth of the company.

You will gain valuable exposure to senior leadership through your role in the SEC reporting function, as well as gain operational exposure through your involvement in the close process. Reporting to the Sr. Manager SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting, this is a hands-on position and the ability to be highly self-motivated, innovative, demonstrate accountability, and effectively collaborate cross functionally is essential.  What will you be doing?

  • Assist in the preparation of the Company’s SEC reports on Forms 10-K, 10-Q, Proxy, and other ad hoc filings, including preparation of financial statements, footnotes, and auditable support and analyses
  • Participate in the month-end close process and management reporting for assigned areas
  • Perform ongoing SOX compliance requirements. Support and adhere to strong internal control policies and procedures
  • Assist with the evaluation and analysis of emerging accounting and reporting standards from the FASB, SEC and other standard setters
  • Research and prepare technical accounting position papers for new and emerging areas of the business
  • Develop and implement new accounting policies and processes for a rapidly growing organization
  • Review material contracts to determine proper accounting treatment and draft technical memos for various accounting matters as needed
  • Support the annual audit and quarterly review activities with external auditors
  • Identify areas for process improvements and opportunities for efficiencies, without compromising quality
  • Assist with other ad-hoc projects, such as implementation of new processes, systems and technology, etc.

What are we looking for?

  • BA/BS or higher degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA required
  • Minimum of 5 years of public accounting and/or SEC/technical accounting experience
  • Experience in a public company, preferably in the biotech industry
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, including US GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX
  • Excellent team player who can work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage competing priorities with deadlines, without sacrificing quality
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel required
  • Experience with ERP systems; Oracle Fusion preferred
