About June

June is a modern appliance company dedicated to bringing intelligence and ease to the tools you use in the kitchen. June pioneered the smart oven market in 2016 with the introduction of the world’s first and only smart countertop convection oven.
June’s mission is to use the power of technology and machine learning to make cooking perfectly easy for everyone. Through elegant design and unprecedented performance, the June Oven delivers the best possible cooking experience for everyone.

Job Description

At June our mission is to bring people together by delivering magical and user-friendly cooking experiences. We’ve already changed the way people think about their kitchens and how they prepare meals for their friends and family with the June Intelligent Oven. June was recently acquired by Weber Stephen Products, and our world-class team is now also reinventing the outdoor cooking experience. We are thrilled to see the positive impact our work has on people’s lives every day.

Our growing server team is looking for an experienced back-end engineer to help scale our cloud infrastructure and mission critical systems. In this role you’ll have the opportunity to not only optimize our existing deployment, but also implement exciting new systems and services to 10x our business. If you have a passion for solving hard problems and a desire to make a meaningful impact, come join us as we build the kitchen of the future!

June has a remote-first software development team.

You will

    • Build and maintain software systems that enable the whole team to iterate more efficiently.
    • Architect and design future systems and services that will enable us to 10x our customer base.
    • Collaborate with the team to invent creative solutions to evolving challenges.
    • Work with an expert team of engineers and designers to build and launch new June and Weber appliance features.
    • Debug complex issues across multiple IoT devices and cloud-based services.
    • Plan the growth and operation of June's infrastructure at scale.
    • Improve engineering tooling and processes.

You have

    • 5+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on Internet services.
    • Experience with systems built on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
    • Experience running containerized workflows at scale. We use Kubernetes, Terraform, EKS, and Docker.
    • Track record of leveraging automation to reduce effort needed to build, test, deploy and monitor high-availability systems across multiple regions.
    • Track record of designing and implementing high-quality features in a language such as Python, Java, Rust, Go, or NodeJS.
    • A solid understanding of Linux and its fundamentals: filesystems, I/O, process and thread management, shell scripting, etc.
    • Experience with networking, including WebSockets, TCP/IP, HTTP/2, or related protocols.
    • Desire to work with rapid development cycles and tight schedules.
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
    • Bonus: experience with IoT devices.
The June team are veterans of the hardware and software industries who are passionate about food. Together, we are reimagining the modern kitchen, both indoors and out. Our flagship product, the June Intelligent Oven, delivers the convenience of quick, no-guesswork cooking alongside the precision controls and advanced technology that professional chefs depend on for world-class results. We’re now bringing our groundbreaking technology to grills, including the Weber SmokeFire, Weber Smart Series, and Weber Connect. Come join us!
