We are working on a generational opportunity to create the shipping and fulfillment layer for e-commerce, transforming this industry in a similar way to how Stripe has revolutionized Payments, and Twilio has communications. We believe that data will play an essential role in that transformation for our customers (merchants), both in helping them to create efficiencies in their operations and in empowering them to better support their end customers (consumers). Shippo sits at the nexus of several critical data sources -- including online store and consumer purchase data, carrier data like on-time delivery rates and transit time, and fulfillment process data across millions of orders and billions in GMV -- so there are endless opportunities to create value for our merchants and for the industry.
This is a new role at Shippo so we are looking for an entrepreneurial product analytics lead who is excited about owning user-level analytics and advising Product and cross-functional partners on product strategies. Your initial focus will be building the product growth analytics along with Product Managers, Engineers, and Go-to-Market teams, and gradually covering the entire user lifecycle on the Shippo platform. You will be on the Product Operations team within the Product Org. Therefore, you have the opportunities to use your analytics and insights to advise critical programs and product strategies and amplify your impact, so the ability to influence without direct authority is essential. This is a unique “zero to one” product analytics opportunity to create and deliver a product strategy that could change an industry

Responsibilities

    • Create and lead the end-to-end product analytics, dashboards, insights, reporting, and communication (growth funnel, user behavior analytics, conversion analytics, cohort analysis, etc.)
    • Identify the opportunities most important for growth, partner across PM, UX, and Go-to-Market teams to come up with new product ideas, develop growth experiments / A/B tests and advise the team on experimentation recommendations
    • Own growth analytics OKRs, pipeline, and portfolio, and ensure timely delivery of analytics and insights Develop strategic insights from your analytics and advise stakeholders on product and business strategies 
    • Partner with Shippo R&D team members (Leadership, Product Managers, Data Engineers, User Researchers, Developers, Customer Support, Sales, Marketing) to develop user analytics requirements
    • Define key metrics and use them to identify opportunities for innovation and measure the impact of growth product launches Advocate for a data-driven decision making culture

Requirements

    • 5+ years in product/data analytics or equivalent experience
    • 3+ years experience working closely with product managers, engineering, design, and business partners 
    • Expertise in SQL queries
    • Experience working with growth and user-level data. Able to advise on user growth and conversion-related topics 
    • Rich experience building intuitive dashboards and data visualizations that drive business decisions (using Looker, Mode, etc.) 
    • Experience with growth experiment design and analysis Experience with Python / R preferred Experiences in influencing peer product managers horizontally to incorporate data product requirements 
    • Strong ownership and project management skills. Able to initiate a project and drive to completion without supervision 
    • Bachelors or Masters degree in a technical field or equivalent professional data analysis experience is highly desirable
    • Comfortable in ambiguity and complexity and able to translate that into clarity and achieve goals
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills; you know how to work with individual contributors and senior leaders.
    • Data science/analytics/statistics/Math background is a big plus
