Swift is seeking a Director of Hardware and Platform. You will be responsible for managing a small team of Hardware Engineers and a medium sized team of embedded Platform Software Engineers.  

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and mentor direct reports to foster personal growth and teamwork
  • Maintain and foster a collaborative but challenging work environment
  • Evangelize and promote engineering best practices by actively reviewing software code, design, and architecture
  • Coordinate software delivery schedules and drive teams to meet committed delivery dates
  • Work with QA and test teams to accelerate software releases
  • Promote software best practices for production software code
  • Manage a team of engineers and team leads who are designing new products and supporting our existing installed product base
  • Manage remote teams in different time zones
  • Ability to manage a small team of hardware, manufacturing, and test engineers
  • Manage all stages of hardware product lifecycle - requirements, design, prototyping, ramp to production, maintenance, end of life
  • Work with product team, engineering software, and manufacturing teams to understand requirements and plan activities
  • Ability to set and keep schedules and project plans for the hardware team

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of embedded C / Microcontrollers / C++ / Python
  • Expert at running embedded software in Linux environment
  • Version control tools / git
  • 10+ years of industry experience is required
  • 5+ years managing a distributed software development team
  • Have held a key position shipping a hardware product in production
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, factory processes, and working with contract manufacturers
  • Understand PCB design, electrical engineering schematics, and component selection process, and hardware design validation
  • Experience with board bring-up and software integration processes
  • Working with 3rd party hardware vendors and contractors

Desired Skills/Experience

  • Familiarity with GNSS technology
  • Experience with automotive ASPICE and safety compliance
  • Experience with compliance testing
