Circle Pharma initiated operations in June 2014 with seed funding from Pfizer, Inc. and Mission Bay Capital, LLP; we received additional seed funding from ShangPharma Investment Group Limited in November 2015. We design and develop bioavailable macrocyclic peptide therapeutics against important clinical targets. We do this by applying a computational structure-based design approach that combines physics (conformational modeling), chemistry (innovative molecular components) and biology (protein target structure and function). We have selected intracellular protein-protein interactions that play key roles in cancer as the initial target group for our internal pipeline development.

Job Description

Circle Pharma is a pre-clinical stage, life sciences company discovering and developing macrocycle therapeutics, with an initial focus in oncology.  Our discovery platform allows us to address challenging therapeutic targets such as intracellular protein-protein interactions. 
 
Our structure-based drug discovery platform encompasses target affinity, cell permeability, medicinal chemistry and macrocycle synthesis, tightly integrated with biochemistry and cellular biology.  We have recently closed a $45M Series B round of funding, with investments from premier life science investors, The Column Group and Nextech Invest, and we are looking to expand our team. We are looking to add a Senior Accounting Manager who will be our first dedicated Finance hire as we are looking to grow our team.  The Senior Accounting Manager will report to and work closely with the Director of Business Operations and Administration and others in the organization in analysis and reconciliation of accounts and in development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures and controls.
 
The ideal candidate possesses leadership capabilities, solid operational and technical accounting background and works proactively to drive results. This person is a self-starter, flexible, has a high level of integrity and is action and goal-oriented in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment.

What You'll Do:

    • Manage outsourced finance provider:
    • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
    • Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
    •    Process payables in an accurate and timely manner.
    •    Assist with cap table and processing stock options and exercises
    •    Manage payroll process and oversight of payroll vendor
    • Facilitate resolution of invoice and payment disputes
    • Assist in managing audit, insurance, tax reporting, legal communications, company filings.
    • Manage/track Contracts/SOW’s and financial reporting against Contracts/SOW’s.
    • Manage ERP/Accounting systems and oversee system enhancements and implementations.
    • Monitors and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
    • Assist Director, Business Operations and Administration with special projects as requested.

About You:

    • BS/BA in Accounting or equivalent with a solid knowledge of GAAP, general ledger structure, and financial statements.
    • Minimum of seven years of accounting experience or equivalent.  Management and public accounting experience is a plus.
    • Current CPA designation required
    • Proficiency in consolidating financial statements with intercompany transactions required.
    • Experience with internal and external financial reporting is preferred.
    • Experience with Procurify, Bill.com, Quickbooks and Netsuite is preferred.
    • Strong MS Office Suite skills including VLOOKUP, if functions, pivot tables, etc.
