Job Description

Parsable gives frontline workers a digital edge in an increasingly automated world.  We develop powerful, user-centric software which creates better outcomes, greater work opportunities and awesome products at some of the largest enterprises in the world.  Companies like Georgia-Pacific, Henkel, Suntory, Corteva Agriscience and Shell rely on Parsable's mobile-first Connected Worker Platform to empower their industrial workers with modern digital tools and measurably increase productivity, quality and safety across their operations.

Parsable is looking for Software Reliability Engineers and those with related experience and skill sets. The SRE team is a hybrid full stack team whose objective is to improve and maintain code and system quality,  monitor and improve site reliability, and apply high security standards.

This role is remote but must be based in the following States - Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, or in British Columbia or Ontario, Canada.

  • Someone who has developed a keen understanding of the tools, libraries, and frameworks developers need to do their job well. Experience helping front end, back end, monolithic, and microservice architecture solutions get up and running quickly.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for metrics, logging, monitoring, and system performance.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure tradeoffs and data pipeline design
  • Knowledge of Container Management problems encountered at different levels of scale.
  • Knowledge of the different use cases between api gateways, service meshes, and why some logic or application might be run in one versus the other.
  • Knowledge surrounding industry standards and solutions for network and system security features such as: WAF, IDS, IPS, DDoS protection, and economic denial of service/sustainability (EDoS)
  • Experience being On Call
  • Experience using and managing multiple databases and data sources.
  • Knows what MTTR, SLO, SLA, and SLI mean, and can explain the differences and how to track them and build systems to track them.
  • You know when to check a browser or client log, a system log, or an application log to find where a problem occurred.

  • Full Stack - Need to know the basics of everything
  • Comfortable Being Uncomfortable - Team will be regularly diving into the unknown and will often run into problems where there will be little to know expertise on the team.
  • Balance solving for the Immediate Term while planning for expansion / maintenance for the Long Term - What is needed now does not always match with what is best for the future, so anything we do will need some plans on how we get to the future.
  • Be a Communication Exponent - This is a cross specialty team, knowledge of problems and solutions must be communicated concisely and with understanding.
  • Aim for Continual Improvement - You strive for improvement and come away from even successes with questions and plans to make things better.
  • Problem solver and troubleshooter extraordinaire: SREs need to be able to troubleshoot various issues around availability and reliability. Oftentimes, they’re troubleshooting issues with applications they didn’t write themselves. So they need to be able to debug without deep domain knowledge.

At Parsable we have a clear vision:  Build an inclusive and diverse organization in which differences are respected and valued.  By facilitating dialogue, education, community service and improving internal policies, we're creating a connected community in which everyone is accepted as their best, most authentic self.  Parsable is committed to creating an employee population which reflects our customers and our communities.  We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
