What’s in it for you?

The Director, Global Tax and Treasury is a highly-visible role that will be responsible for the managing the Company’s global tax and treasury functions (approximately 75% and 25%, respectively). In this role you will manage all tax accounting, compliance, and filing requirements for our organization, as well play a critical role in developing and implementing the Company’s evolving global tax strategy. This role will also oversee the Company’s treasury function and be responsible for managing relationships with banking and treasury service providers, monitoring cash flow needs, and executing our investment strategy.

Reporting to the VP Corporate Controller, the Director, Global Tax and Treasury must have a proven track record of effectively interpreting and applying tax guidance, ensuring tax compliance, as well as the ability to effectively manage treasury operations. This individual must be an effective multi-tasker with the ability to prioritize and execute key initiatives, with strong attention to detail and a dedication to quality. This position is a key financial strategic partner and plays a critical role in supporting the growth of the business. What will you be doing?

Tax Function (approximately 75% of role):

  • Ensure Federal, foreign, state, and local income tax compliance, as well as compliance with franchise, property and other non-income taxes
  • Drive accounting for income taxes for the Company on a quarterly and annual basis, including review of the quarterly and annual tax provision, as well as ensure proper financial statement presentation and disclosure
  • Coordinate and review of the outsourced US Federal and state income tax filings, including extensions
  • Coordinate and review of the outsourced International tax filings and approve returns and tax payments, including VAT
  • Provide strategic insight as the Company expands its operational footprint, both domestically and internationally, by recommending and executing federal, state, and international income tax strategies
  • Remain current with legislative tax changes and tax-related accounting pronouncements
  • Perform research on various tax issues including US federal, state, and international tax
  • Analyze tax information and consider tax strategies related to potential business development opportunities
  • Review Company's Transfer Pricing position and ensure ongoing compliance
  • Complete various analyses throughout the year to assist with the annual budgeting and forecasting process
  • Partner with external tax advisors in the US and in international jurisdictions
  • Develop and maintain relationships throughout the finance organization and cross-functionally to increase understanding of the business and potential impacts on tax compliance and strategy
  • Prepare ad hoc analyses, and lead or assist with special projects as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to SOX business controls to eliminate risks for the Company

Treasury Function (approximately 25% of role):

  • Management of liquidity and cash assets, as well as overseeing work of accounting team
  • Manage and maintain relationships with banking and treasury service providers.
  • Ensure adequate cash funding in accounts to meet daily liquidity needs
  • Analyze, recommend, monitor, and manage investment strategy
  • Review investment opportunities and present opportunities in line with Investment Policy to senior leadership team
  • Maintain weekly, monthly, and long-term Treasury cash forecasts
  • Review FX exposure and implement programs to reduce volatility as needed
  • Review, recommend, design and implement operational improvements
  • Ensure adherence to SOX business controls to eliminate risks for the Company

What are we looking for?

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in tax role, with CPA or MST required
  • Prior experience working for a public accounting firm required; experience managing the tax function in a publicly traded company (biotech), strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, including ASC 740 accounting for income taxes, as well as SOX
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage competing priorities with deadlines, without sacrificing quality
  • Ability to work independently as well as work effectively with external tax service providers and consultants to execute on strategic initiatives
  • Proven ability to work in the details, as well as communicate and manage well at all levels of the company
  • A high level of analytical and strategic ability is required
