Your key cross-functional partners will be our Engineering, Product, and Design leaders, chief Sales officer, head of partnerships, and finance team. You’ll devise strategies, plans, budgets, and be accountable for impact alongside them, so evidence-based decision-making and influential leadership will both be key. You’ll be building new capabilities and teams for Gusto, so expert organizational design and planning is required. You’ll inherit a team of 5 top performers with several active roles to recruit for. You’ll be directly empowered by our chief marketing officer. 

Product marketing

  • Build world class PMM team serving all Gusto business lines and audiences
  • Drive company product strategy by leveraging consumer insights and serving as strategic liaison between GTM functions: Channel Marketing, Acquisition Marketing, Sales
  • Own pricing and merchandising
  • Drive company marketing strategy, own positioning and differentiation, develop and assess opportunities for business growth

Consumer strategy and marketing

  • Develop company-wide approach to engaging employees served through the Gusto platform. This includes input into business model and strategy, co-ownership of product strategy.
  • Build full-stack consumer (financial services) marketing team. (KPIs: adoption, utilization, retention, satisfaction, revenue/EBITDA.)

Insights

  • Quant & Qual Market Research
  • Voice of Prospect and Employee 
  • Synthesis of insights to business performance and opportunity that influences and improves company strategy across all functions

Here’s what we're looking for:

  • BA/BS degree 
  • 15+ years of experience, 5+ years as a business unit or departmental leader running strategies and programs of significant scale (e.g. >$100M in annual revenue), and launching and scaling new products or markets
  • Experience building and managing high performance teams across multiple disciplines
  • Full-stack marketing acumen including operations and finance
  • Experience in regulated industries
  • An influencer that can work well with various groups and levels of the organization, particularly Product, Eng, and Corp Strategy
  • A strong communicator (both written and verbal)
  • Passionate about Gusto’s mission and the impact we can have on the world

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $187,000-$235,000/year in San Francisco. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
