As the SiteReliabilityEngineering Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the technical execution with your team of engineers responsible for providing an efficient and user-friendly platform that empowers our software engineering teams. You strive to set our software engineers up for success with the tools, insights, and infrastructure to build reliable and performant systems for our life insurance platform.

Your Day to Day:

    • Build the site reliability function while inspiring a culture of reliability that delivers 99.999% of uptime and availability.
    • Implement and maintain comprehensive service monitoring to ensure uptime and performance.
    • Act as an incident manager.
    • Be a Subject Matter Expert for our observability tools.
    • Building software and systems to manage infrastructure and applications through automation.
    • Deployment, support, and monitoring of existing and new services, platforms, and application stacks.
    • Develop a broad interpersonal perspective to facilitate strategic views around new projects and facilitate discussions focusing on prioritization of existing projects.
    • Build and maintain extensive work plans detailing sophisticated technical projects in a fast-paced engineering environment.
    • Measurement and optimization of system performance Capacity planning and management.
    • Explore and evaluate new technologies and solutions to push our capabilities forward and solve tomorrow's problems, not just today's.
    • Controlling and reporting progress to the Project Steering Group/Project Sponsor and raising any issues, as appropriate, on time.
    • Identify interdependencies between the various partner groups to ensure all are aligned, and risks are identified, mitigated, and communicated. 
    • Ensure Highly Available Infrastructure and CI/CD Pipeline by working closely with Product and Engineering Management across multiple business units to define product vision and strategy.
    • Ensure the software is secure, performant, scalable, maintainable, and extensible.
    • Cultivate a successful team by performing regular reviews and collaborate with engineers on professional development roadmaps. 
    • Identify and create improvements to our engineering practices.
    • You will be responsible for the successful delivery of software and work with your team's output to maintain the maximum balance between them, project managers, and product manager.
    • Weigh the constraints and make rapid decisions.
    • Actively communicate roadblocks or significant delays in estimated delivery dates.

A Little About Your:

    • 2+ years of engineering management experience.
    • 5+ years of Site Reliability or Production Engineering experience.
    • Experience with dynamic languages (Python preferred).
    • Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
    • Experience with Cloud Hosting providers (Google Cloud Platform preferred).
    • Clear, concise written and verbal communication initiative and motivation to make things happen.
