Job Description

DIGIT, a Scopely studio is looking for a highly collaborative, passionate and motivated multi-talented Senior 3D artist who will help push our visual quality bar to the next level. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Art team and will be expected to help drive the look and feel of all elements within the team. The role will also include working with outsource partners and integrating outsourced assets.

 

As a Senior 3D Artist you will require excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to adapt quickly and prioritize tasks effectively. You need to understand dev team jargon, as well as being approachable, trustworthy, and not afraid to take on new challenges.

 

What will you do:

  • Work closely with the Art Director and team leads on multiple aspects of game art creation such as 3D spaceships, 3D characters, 3D Buildings, VFX, as well as animation and rigging
  • Manage the balance between quality and efficiency while working under tight deadlines and the hardware constraints of mobile game development
  • Help create and maintain art and technical pipelines 
  • Implement optimisation and loading improvements. 
  • Collaborate with the Art team to gather and compile outsourcing art briefs. 
  • Work with outsourcing vendors to execute to a high standard of excellence both technical and aesthetical
  • Provides actionable feedback to vendors at key stages of asset creation: Low poly, high poly/sculpt, material bake and final delivery phases
  • Optimizes and polishes assets after external delivery including UVs, baking, material and texture adjustments and optimization
  • Merging art assets from external vendors into the game engine
  • Be the point of contact for day to day communication with outsourcing partners

 

What will you need:

  • 2+ years in the games industry
  • Strong and varied portfolio showing examples of work from multiple disciplines
  • Good knowledge of Maya
  • Good knowledge of ZBrush
  • Good experience creation 3D Characters 
  • Hard Surface creation experience
  • Good understanding of Photoshop
  • Good knowledge of UV and Texturing for game assets
  • Good Unity game engine knowledge
  • Solid understanding of materials and lighting
  • Knowledge of rigging, skinning and animation
  • Knowledge of particle systems and VFX creation for games
  • A passion to push yourself and learn new skills
  • Great teamwork and communication skills
  • Proficient in texture and material creation with Photoshop and Substance Painter.
  • Experience working with outsource teams & freelance artists

 

What makes you a rockstar:

  • 2D drawing and painting ability
  • Mobile game development experience
  • Knowledge of JIRA
  • Knowledge of Substance Designer
  • Knowledge of shader creation tools eg. Shader Forge or Shader Graph
  • Previous experience as an outsource manager
