FabFitFun is seeking an innovative and self-driven Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to join our growing Data Infrastructure team for building a scalable and modern Microservices platform in AWS and business-driven data products. This will include operational duties such as restoring/refreshing environments, deploying releases, and also architectural duties such as schema and code review, and troubleshooting slow queries. There will also be opportunities for growth in DevOps, Data Governance and Privacy initiatives for GDPR and CCPA compliance. Our Senior DBAs partner with existing Engineering, Data Engineering/Data Science teams to develop critical data stores for supporting transactional e-commerce and making real-time decisions and business recommendations. The ideal candidate would have a proven track record supporting and fulfilling the strategic objectives of a highly cross-functional organization.

What You’ll Do:

  • Maintenance and Administration for Aurora MySQL RDS, Redshift, S3.
  • Perform Terraform deployments of database instances/users/groups/Permissions.
  • Operations support for Data Governance and Data Modeling Application Servers
  • Review existing infrastructure and optimize data platforms.
  • Develop data models for all production schemas
  • Review data access code from all OLTP engineers and recommend improvements to schema and queries
  • Performance monitoring and tuning of database queries in production.
  • Review and tune parameter groups for MySQL and Postgres.
  • Build and maintain a replica of Prod MySQL OLTP databases for BI and Reporting purposes.
  • Building and Maintaining a Data Dictionary, Data Lineage across all systems for Governance
  • Identifying and Documenting the scope of Data in all systems under the jurisdiction of pertinent privacy laws
  • Building and Maintaining ERD in Erwin for AWS enterprise OLTP databases
  • Data Privacy and Security Review and Documentation
  • Data Subject Requests, GDPR and CCPA request processing

What You’ll Bring:

  • 7+ years of database experience
  • Advanced level of proficiency in MySQL, postgreSQL development and architecture, including designing new schemas
  • Experience with Liquibase or Schema or similar Schema version control software
  • Extensive experience with design & development of relational databases and data warehouses
  • Strong knowledge & expertise with ETL/ELT tools like AWS Glue, Fivetran, Snowflake, or Airflow
  • Experience with AWS S3 and RDS, Terraform
  • Production experience in a high-traffic environment with MySQL and PostgreSQL
  • Technical understanding of cache based datastores such as Redis or Memcached
  • Intermediate knowledge of python, typescript, and/or experience data modeling
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field
