About Homebase

Homebase is the easiest way to track hours, schedule your team, and hireā€”for free! We build modern software for local businesses and their employees. Our goal is to make hourly work easy.

Job Description

About Us

Our mission is to make hourly work easier for local businesses and their employees. Homebase currently serves more than 100,000 small (but mighty) businesses with everything they need to manage their hourly teams: employee scheduling, time clocks, team communication, hiring, onboarding, and compliance. We are not Human Capital Management. We are not HR Software. We’re tools built for the busiest businesses, so owners and employees can spend less time on paperwork and more time on what matters. The Homebase team brings small business expertise from Intuit, Square, OpenTable, Yelp, Gusto, and First Data. Based in San Francisco and Houston, Homebase is backed by leading venture investors Bain Capital Ventures, Baseline Ventures, Cowboy Ventures, and Khosla Ventures.

  • You’re an entrepreneurial thinker and leader who wants to have an impact on local businesses and the lives of hourly workers
  • You are hands-on and can make sound decisions based on internal and external data, research and existing patterns
  • You aren’t afraid to talk to customers, potential customers, and technology users. You can stitch together insights from qualitative and quantitative findings to guide decision making
  • You thrive on being scrappy to get to early learnings and are comfortable with taking educated risks and operating in ambiguity
  • You set big goals for yourself and your team, you accelerate the path to accomplishing goals, and you have a track record of achieving results

The Job

You’ll work closely with our founders, product and engineering leaders to build out financial related products that provide much needed solutions to the more than one million employees that use our services to manage their work lives.  Your creativity and business intuition will constantly be relied upon as you help our users with products designed to provide better financial outcomes in their lives: early access to earned income, budgeting tools and more.

Product Management

  • Balance competing priorities and develop and own the product roadmap
  • Articulate product vision and user stories in a manner clearly understandable to your team and execute against the product roadmap
  • Be comfortable with conducting customer research through interviews and surveys
  • Conduct testing and QA to ensure consistent product quality
  • Write detailed User Stories/Epics that help engineers build with a clear end goal in mind
  • Provide scope for a release and define release timing and strategy
  • Work with the team to define each sprint plan, review completed work, and accept/reject results -- requiring you to be highly accessible to your team
  • Research industry and technology trends, review professional publications within each supported vertical market, and identify potential opportunities
  • Lead projects independently from end-to-end. Build consensus while also identifying risks and removing roadblocks
  • Partner on discovery with business subject matter experts and UX designers to grow revenue, improve customer experience, and differentiate our product
  • Optimize both customer experience and performance by defining and monitoring adoption, engagement, and satisfaction metrics.

Cross-Functional Work

  • Work with the product marketing team to develop and measure the effectiveness of content
  • Partner with finance on basic quantitative risk modeling and assessing and mitigating financial and legal risks
  • Work with the customer support team to ensure effective operations and consistent quality

Must Have

  • Entrepreneurial instincts with track record of leading new initiatives with limited resources and support
  • 5+ years of product management experience as a product owner or product manager, preferably within B2C fintech
  • Strong process management capabilities, demonstrated ability to manage complex rollouts with multiple stakeholders – has launched products at scale
  • Self-starter with proven ability to deliver results with minimal assistance is a must
  • Experience conducting user research to identify pain points and educate product design
  • Excel modeling proficiency and basic SQL proficiency
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

What We Can Offer You

  • Stock Options - Everyone is an owner
  • Health, Dental & Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) with 4% match
  • Generous accrued PTO
  • A dynamic, well-connected, productive team that is thriving while working from home and who have found new ways to connect and have fun despite social distancing
