Job Description

In this role you will be responsible for developing aesthetically pleasing UI/UX prototypes around human interaction. This cross functional concept prototyping team of electrical, mechanical and UX engineers builds product facsimiles of high aesthetic content, integrating sensors, buttons, touch surfaces and displays as needed. You will use skills in scripting, code management, and debugging to turn these Raspberry PI platforms from ambiguous ideas into workable models quickly.

 

 What You’ll Do:

  • Bring the human interface of these prototypes alive - including sound rendering, visual feedback, and responding to the product input interfaces on-product surfaces.

  • Brainstorm ideas and concepts with your teammates and customers.

  • Develop and maintain code on our development platforms.

  • Test your product concepts and make them reliable and robust such that your customers can bring your team’s work into external concept validation programs. These will validate the UX concepts and will be minimally distracted by the integrity of your team’s work.

  • Debug hardware and coding problems when they arise.

  • Explore HW technologies especially sensors, touch and proximity sense, displays, haptics etc.

 

What You'll Need

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Human Computer Interaction, Computer Science or equivalent professional experience

  • 2-5 years firmware, scripting development experience.

  • Experience with hardware hacking/prototyping

  • Proficiency with at least one common Arduino, Raspberry PI programming tool/scripting language such as python (preferred) , javascript, PHP, Ruby, Arduino.

  • Working knowledge of CPU based hardware plus ability to debug using protocol analyzers, oscilloscope, logic analyzers, multimeters, soldering, wiring, power supplies etc.

  • Working knowledge of Linux systems including shell scripting along with networking protocols.

  • Proficiency with source code management tools, such as Git, Perforce, subversion, cvs, clearcase

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical programming skills with C/C++       

  • Proficiency with common IDEs such as Eclipse, Arduino, IDLE

  • Knowledge of vision/gesture based Sensors, haptics, robotics, displays, touch screens, touch surfaces.

  • Working knowledge of the Atlassian tool set such as jira, confluence, git etc.

  • Hacking  in your spare time.
