Job Description

Our Business Development team works with a best-of-breed product that solves real problems for our customers. Success rates are high, but the sales cycle is challenging and requires persistence.

The ideal candidate for this position is a driven and astute person who wants to take their career to the next level. Under the direction of the VP of Business Development, this individual will identify and develop new business prospects and grow existing client relationships.

Responsibilities

Quickly learn and hold an in-depth knowledge of Scientist.com products and value proposition
Inherit and grow a new client pipeline to deliver continued growth
Build trusted relationships with clients
Be the central figure for the company with your client relationships
Negotiate pricing and contract structure with customers
Facilitate the route to deal closure and launch for new clients
Lead / Support the launch with the Customer Success team
Identifying and mapping Scientist.com strengths and customer needs
Willingness to prospect, cold call, and create opportunities through individual efforts in lead generation, and sales development
Work diligently with internal stakeholders to identify and cultivate new revenue opportunities with prospective and current clients

Requirements

4-8 years sales experience working with corporate clientele
Must be a high energy, self-starter capable of working independently but also collaboratively as part of a high-performing team
Focused on execution and creating results rather than just strategy
Have great communication skills & are recognized as a good influencer
Confident in running sales pitches / presentations / demos
Have the personality and ability to bring a value proposition to life
Natural relationship builder who develops trust
Possess the highest level of integrity, ethics, and honesty
Expert in coordinating people and resources not directly under your control
Technologically savvy with an eagerness to learn new technology and practice
Ability to manage complex deals from inception, navigating legal and procurement to close
Solid writing, editing, presentation and communications skills
Fluent in written and spoken English

Nice to haves:

Life Science background (Sales, Procurement, Scientist)
University degree in a scientific field (or equivalent work experience)
Experience selling to business owners and key personas that include C-Levels, VPs, and Directors
Able to adjust value proposition to various stakeholder groups (procurement, research, legal, and finance)
Experience managing long sales cycles, with a track record of closing deals with persistent follow-up and communication
Experience with lead generation and marketing automation software including proficiency in Sales Force
Experience selling SaaS into corporate clients (large or small)
Experience working in a high growth, start-up environment
