Job Description

This is a full-time valuation role with a primary focus around valuing private companies, in addition to other valuations such as contingent considerations, public warrants, and investment partnerships.

Key responsibilities

 

·         Valuation Responsibilities (75% of time)

o   Assist in preparation and maintenance of valuation models for private companies (both transaction based and discretionary changes)

o   Preparation of monthly Black Scholes valuation for public warrants

o   Ownership of investment partnership valuation process

o   Ownership of earn-out valuation process

o   Assist in the preparation of meeting material for internal valuation meetings and reporting packages for the Board of Advisors

o   Participant in internal and larger valuation working group (weekly valuation meetings, valuation calls, pre-call/post-call meetings, etc.)

o   Assist in completion of the year end audit (focus on valuation procedures)

·         Controls and Financial Reporting Responsibilities (25% of time)

o   Preparation of fair value disclosures for quarterly financials

o   Assist in maintenance of internal valuation input database (including entry, review, and analysis across portfolio)

o   Ongoing portfolio maintenance (weekly review of cap table changes and portfolio company financials, CapIQ / Pitchbook portfolio screens)

 

Qualifications

 

·         3 – 5 years experience in the preparation or audit of private company valuation or tangential experience (409a valuations, real estate valuation, complex securities valuation, goodwill / intangibles, etc.)

·         Strong writing and verbal communication skills

·         Strong attention to detail

·         Strong Microsoft Excel skills and ability analyze large data sets

·         Ability to interpret and analyze financial statements

·         Experience reading / interpreting legal documents

·         Experience / familiarity with valuation techniques (comparable company analysis, DCF, option pricing model, etc.)

·         Ability to effectively work and communicate with the investing team and senior administration personnel as well as third party service providers and auditors

·         Familiarity with CapIQ, Pitchbook or other similar data sources

·         Ideal candidate should have: i) Private Equity, Venture Capital or similar experience and ii) existing valuation credential or have exhibited progress towards a recognized valuation credential (ABV, CEIV, CFA, ASA, etc.).  Will consider candidates with relevant industry experience (software, biopharma, consumer, etc.) with similar valuation credentials or holds a CPA.
