About Groupon

Groupon provides a global marketplace where people can buy just about anything, anywhere, anytime.

Job Description

We’re a top-rated retail app. You’re an analyst looking to help discover consumer insights. Let’s talk.

Groupon’s mission is to become the daily habit in local commerce and fulfill our purpose of building strong communities through thriving small businesses. We connect people to a vibrant, global marketplace for local services and experiences. In the process, we’re positively impacting the lives of millions of customers and merchants globally. Even with thousands of employees spread across multiple continents, we still maintain a culture that inspires innovation, rewards risk-taking and celebrates success. If you want to take more ownership of your career, then you're ready to be part of Groupon.

At Groupon we are passionate about using data to drive business decisions. And as the Market Research team, we act as the internal voice of the Groupon customer and merchant, using research to inform our recommendations. We are in a unique position of elevating customer needs and offering insights that can be used throughout the entire business.

You will lead various research initiatives and will be responsible for developing insights that inform the business and help lead to strategic change. You will also lead complex research studies that incorporate survey data with larger Groupon data warehouse insights. Working with colleagues, you'll drive business insights by seamlessly funneling and contextualizing data for all subscriber and marketing channels.

We're a "best of both worlds" kind of company. We're big enough to have resources and scale, but small enough that a single person has a surprising amount of autonomy and can make a meaningful impact. We're curious, fun, a little intense, and kind of obsessed with helping local businesses thrive. Does that sound like a compelling place to work?

This role will be based out of the Chicago Headquarters.

You’ll spend time on the following:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize gaps in our understanding of the Groupon experience and design research that contributes to solving for those gaps

  • Measure the consumer and merchant experience

  • Own the entire quantitative process from survey design, scripting, conducting analysis, and creating reports

  • Summarize results and prepare reports in Qualtrics and PowerPoint/Google Slides

  • Rolling up your sleeves to build research

  • Use statistical tools (R, SPSS) to discover insights that lead to strategic change

  • Leveraging third party research to inform verticals on the consumer mindset

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • A degree in a quantitative discipline, like mathematics, statistics, economics, or equivalent experience

  • At least 5-8 years of professional experience with data analytics

  • Presentation experience

  • Experience in market research including survey design

  • Familiar with market search principles with strong interest in database integration

  • Experience in SQL, SPSS & R a plus

  • Qualtrics experience a plus

  • You're a creative problem solver who finds problems and recommends effective plans of action, figuring out "the how" by troubleshooting and solving problems with data

  • Experience translating business objectives and problems into analytic problems, and analytic solutions into actionable business solutions

  • An independent and motivated learner; you find the right people within the organization to teach you what you're trying to learn

  • You thrive working on multiple projects with cross-functional teams in a rapidly changing environment
