About Farmdrop

Better food all round.

We're a new type of online supermarket. We connect you with amazing producers who respect your health, animals and the planet. The best local groceries, delivered to your door.

Job Description

Our ultimate goal is to ‘Fix the Food Chain’ - by building the best online grocery business possible. We think it’s vital that you know how you can help us do this from the very beginning. Our mission will only be delivered through living our core values and focusing on what we’re trying to deliver, on having great  people, delivering a great business.

To introduce you to those early on, here is how you will help us do that:

By being kind...you exemplify the way your team can and will help the business by developing a  kind and friendly work atmosphere - using a positive tone of voice to deal with anything that arises during your shift.

By being passionate... you have to really get our mission. And you have to be passionate that the only way we will achieve our goals is to look after our people.

By being transparent...we work with utmost transparency. Not always easy in our world, but when we can be transparent - we must. We talk about our rationale for decisions, we show our working and thinking and we are honest.

By loving our customers...for this role - this means both the ones that shop with us - but also our employees. We want our employee experience to be just good as the shopper experience.

By being smart... With this role you will need to see opportunities and sort them out. You will have your hands dirty, you will be ‘in the long grass’ - but you must work smartly. We all try to drive efficiencies in every way we can. You must think of other solutions to problems. But it doesn’t always have to be what everyone else does.

And by being better...in all ways. We want rockstars, heroes, and legends...someone who is born to do this role. Our bar is set really high and we don’t mess around. We are looking for an achiever who chooses to keep raising their own personal bar and set a culture for team achievement. You  naturally coach and develop people - helping everyone around you to be better.

Nuts and Bolts of the role

or apples and pears if you don’t mind the fruit analogy

The role of the Shift Manager is an exciting new role within Farmdrop. We are in the process of opening our first cross dock which you will manage and run. However, you will start by working with the Project Manager to set the site up and recruit your team. You will initially be based at our main hub in Enfield, to learn about what we do, before being based permanently at the new site in South Godstone, Surrey.

The role will report initially into the Project Manager. You will be a key player in shaping and developing the plan, the processes and the team for the new location.

Once the site is operational, you will report into one of the operations leadership team members and you will be responsible for the daily running of the site, all functional processes at the site and managing and leading your team to ensure that all operational KPIs are met.

You will need to be a creative problem solver who can think big and remove obstacles by standardization and working backwards from the problem to find solutions with “BLUE SKY THINKING” mentality. Your other key focus areas will be Safety of our teams and the quality of the products we deliver to our amazing customers.

Your Boss

This will be the Project Manager, Harry Rose who has been at Farmdrop since last summer.  Once the site has been established your boss will change to one of the operations leadership team members.

The Team

You will run a team of approx 7 people plus a team of Farmdroppers (what we call our drivers), all of which you will help recruit.

Role Progression

We are in a growth business, so likely we will open more hubs and expand; as will this role. We want farmdrop operations to be the best and most slick in the world. The more we grow, the more opportunities will open.

Your closet working relationships (peas in a pod)

You will work closely with your team on site (obviously) and the team at Enfield - the Fleet and Logistics Manager (Lee), The General Manager (Dawood), The Fleet Excellence Manager (Michelle) and the shift managers (Stephen, Paul, Sarunas and Kenneth) in particular.

Job Description
