The Opportunity
The Information Security Analyst is a critical hands-on role on our Internal IT team. In this role, the candidate will focus on vulnerabilities, incidents, creating policies and procedures, and will perform security awareness training.
 
You’ll work with IT and other departments to promote secure practices and improve information security policies. You’ll be responsible for identifying vulnerabilities in our systems while implementing and enforcing security controls to eradicate and/or mitigate any issues. Your contributions to the IT team will strengthen the security posture of our IT systems, network, and platform. You will be responsible for leading and performing the activities necessary to maintain security and establish functioning external barriers, define/create/maintain the documentation for certification and accreditation while maintaining our record of compliance.
 
Torch is a hybrid remote and distributed team with offices in San Francisco, Buffalo and New York and the rest of the team scattered around the U.S.

Objectives

    • Develop & execute security controls, defenses, and countermeasures to prevent internal or external attacks
    • Maintain hardware, software, and network firewalls and encryption protocols
    • Administer cybersecurity policies to control physical and virtual access to systems
    • Respond to cybersecurity breaches, identify intrusions, and block and remove unauthorized access
    • Research and evaluate cybersecurity threats and perform root cause analysis
    • Periodically evaluate, audit & remediate security controls for computer systems and networks
    • Help support general IT support requests from end-users that are security related
    • Help evaluate and recommend secure technology configurations
    • Provide training on security-related processes
    • Resolve all escalated security tickets in a timely manner
    • Developing Information Security strategies
    • Assessing system/software risk and vulnerabilities

Competencies

    • Qualified applicants should have current experience across a broad spectrum of data security disciplines
    • Minimum of 2 years experience as an information security professional with experience developing, documenting, and driving adoption of information security standards and procedures
    • Minimum of 2 years advanced knowledge of security standards and frameworks
    • Minimum of 2 years experience implementing and executing security incident response
    • Background with firewall products, intrusion detection systems, DMZ, IPSec, DNS, SMTP, HTTP proxies, etc
    • Background with cloud infrastructure such as AWS and GCP
    • Knowledge of security best practices across multiple platforms, such as Microsoft Windows, VMWare, macOS
    • Knowledge of public-key cryptography, understanding of encoding, encryption, and hashing techniques
    • Exceptional customer service, verbal and written communication skills are required
    • Candidate should be able to effectively interact with all levels of staff and executive C-level management
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in CS, IT, CIS, a computer related field, or equivalent work experience
    • Possession of CISSP, GIAC, CEH, Security+ or other security related certification is a plus
    • Experience within the legal, financial, insurance, and/or healthcare industry is a plus
    • Hands-on knowledge working with Atlassian JIRA is a plus
