About us
GoCardless’ vision is to build a global connected payments network, making payments simpler on the internet no matter what country you’re in or what software you’re using.
We’ve created a global bank debit network, to rival credit and debit cards. On top of it, we’ve built a platform designed and optimised for taking invoice, subscription, membership and instalment payments.
Today, we help over 60,000 businesses across the globe businesses from small businesses to household names like Docusign, Survey Monkey, TripAdvisor and the LA Times to collect payments, and we’re growing fast. With investors such as Google Ventures, Salesforce Ventures and Bain Capital we are poised to become one of the dominant players in the recurring payments space. Our recent funding round at the end of 2020 provides us with a warchest to take advantage of a once in a generation opportunity for Open Banking.
Leveraging our global network designed for recurring payments, the addition of Open Banking capabilities later in 2021 expands our Total Addressable Market enormously and puts us in a position to challenge credit cards and wallets for subscription based Organizations globally. Already we have started to win in these new markets with marquee wins at organizations such as Twitch.
Our recurring payments platform integrates with the applications businesses use every day, giving businesses more visibility over payments and saving them huge amounts of time on tasks like payment reconciliation. We partner with more than 200 billing and subscription software partners globally, including Zuora and Salesforce.
Our go to market strategy for our Open Banking capabilities in North America is focused on winning share with merchants in particular in the online publishing Saas vertical, who use our solution to collect bank debit payments from our San Francisco team today is comprised of approx 30 people including Marketing, Partnerships, Strategy, Customer Success and Sales Roles.
A proud Y Combinator alum, in 2019 we raised $75m from incredible investors such as Google and Salesforce in 2019 to escalate our growth plans and have followed that up with $95 million at the end of 2020 with Bain Capital to launch our Open Baking solutions.
What will you be doing?
Our vision is to fix recurring payments at a global scale, and as someone responsible for selling this vision to some of the fastest growing and most ambitious companies in the world, you will be at the forefront of this. In particular your focus will be those organizations that provide an enormous open banking opportunity.
An average week might entail:
Qualifying inbound leads in your assigned territory from Marketing campaigns and SDR activities
Prospecting directly to the larger organizations in your Territory
Developing and progressing deals through the funnel to close
Presenting and demo’ing via Zoom to prospects
Attending conferences and other events to build industry expertise and secure new opportunities
Working with our 200+ partner sales organisations within their installed base to generate new prospects
Proposing and negotiating contracts for new Customer wins
As an Account Executive Open Banking you'll be making a significant contribution within the sales team, driving overall awareness of GoCardless in the market and helping us identify how we can develop our product in the future. You'll also be one of our first hires for Open Banking in North America, with an opportunity to shape our success in the region. You will be based in our San Francisco office, joining a team with ambitious growth plans.
We want to give you all of the tools and skills you need to succeed and thrive. We provide world-class tools to enable you to be very productive in your role (Demandbase, SpringCM, SalesForce Navigator, Partdot, Yesware, Gong.io, SalesLoft, G2, ZoomInfo) as well as operations support to build and enrich contact lists in your Territory. We run frequent sales training sessions across a range of topics - from best outreach practices to negotiation skills form World-renowned authors. In addition, you will be encouraged to identify skills you want to improve and we'll work with you to develop a plan to improve them.

What will you be able to show?
You achieved above 100% against sales target in at least two SaaS and Payments companies selling to tech/media organisations
You have a ‘Challenger Sale’ approach and structured methodology such as MEDDIC/TAS/Sandler to working
You have sold on Value rather than price or coverage and are comfortable visionary selling at the C-Level
You have built and executed Go-to-Market plans with Marketing to win in new market sectors
Can list more than a dozen Enterprise and Corporate accounts successfully sold to
You’ve sold a product that didn’t exist in the market to customers who didn’t know they needed it, and did so to recognized logos
You’ve managed complex sales cycles in excess of 6 months, from initial contact, through the sales process, commercial and contract negotiation and onboarding
Educated to Bachelor Degree level
