Job Description

Dremio is seeking a dynamic Revenue Manager. This role will be based in Santa Clara and will report to the CFO, working closely with, and taking direction from, the part time interim controller.


Dremio is the Data Lake Engine company. Our mission is to reshape the world of analytics by enabling lightning-fast queries directly against cloud data lake storage such as AWS S3 and Microsoft ADLS, combined with full self-service for data users and full governance and control for IT.  We’re doing this with an open architecture, purpose-built to handle the exploding growth of cloud data lake storage. We dramatically reduce and even eliminate the need to copy and move data out of data lake storage and into data warehouses (whether cloud-native or on-premises), or to create cubes, extracts, or aggregation tables in order to meet performance needs.

To help scale, the company is looking for a rising accounting leader to be its first full time revenue focused resource.   The ideal candidate excels at the accounting basics, has deep experience with revenue recognition and process in enterprise software & SaaS, is comfortable rolling up the sleeves to execute on the details of revenue recognition etc., works well with sales, professional services and customer success teams, and can drive process improvement and strategic decisions


  • Work with interim controller and accounting manager to confirm then execute the revenue recognition, and commission accruals, process consistent with ASC 606 and the evolving business model of SW subscription and SaaS
  • Own and drive the technical accounting agenda for revenue recognition and commissions
  • Collaborate with Accounting Manager to scale core financial processes
  • Together with the accounting manager, the interim controller and CFO, prepare the company for its first audit
  • Respond promptly, clearly and constructively to Sales and help accelerate growth consistent with accounting standards 
  • Process bookings and invoicing in an accurate, scalable manner
  • Manage AR together with sales operations
  • Advise the company on structuring offerings to optimize and simplify revenue recognition

Qualifications & Experience

  • Self-starter with proven track record of grit and determination to drive improvements in processes and result
  • Ability to interact with various levels of the organization, customers and vendors

  • Organized and structured, with ability to set strategy, build a plan and execute on the details

  • Learner and problem solver, who isn’t afraid to take on new challenges, while knowing when to ask for help
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to drive change and adoption of best practices in accounting
  • Experience with Quickbooks, with a track record of an ERP implementation
  • Experience with implementation and integration of tools such as Intacct,  Netsuite ARM, Zuora RevPro, Stripe, SFDC CPQ
  • Expertise in Quote-to-Cash and drive improvement on the overall process.
  • Familiar working with sales tax and VAT
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with current accounting rules & compliance practices
  • Experience with SaaS and subscription software revenue recognition, commission accruals & business model
  • College degree in Accounting or a related field
  • Strong spreadsheet skills, with Google Workspace expertise and 10-key speed & accuracy
  • At least 8 years experience in Accounting at high-growth technology companies
