Job Description

Protenus, a healthcare compliance analytics company based in Baltimore, Maryland, is seeking a Business Development Representative, with a proven track record of success to join our rapidly growing team. Reporting to the Director, Sales Development, this role serves as a critical member of the Protenus sales team, responsible for both inbound and outbound prospecting and lead qualification to support the growth of regional sales territories and generate new sales of the Protenus platform. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to ask insightful questions to best understand the needs of each prospective customer. This is a results-driven position that requires keen listening skills, thoughtful execution, and the ability to understand the needs of individual organizations in order to successfully nurture prospects.

Understand and effectively communicate the Protenus value proposition in a constrained time setting
Conduct initial discovery calls - ask thoughtful questions to determine basic information and prospective customer needs
Qualify inbound leads and schedule product demos for Sales Directors
Execute targeted outbound calling and email campaigns to support marketing and sales activities like webinars and tradeshows
Schedule high-value conversations, demos, and in-person meetings for Sales Directors at industry events and tradeshows
Identify key decision-makers within healthcare organizations and proactively nurture relationships through effectively executed discovery phone calls and emails
Organize, log activity, and categorize sales lead information in Salesforce, as well as maintain accurate pipeline for regions in conjunction with Sales Directors
Anticipate and communicate potential sales risks, issues, or dependencies
Provide additional support to Sales Directors, including preparation of proposals and presentations, as well as to other Sales team members or other Protenus departments, as needed

Key Qualifications, Skills, or Competencies

At least one year of professional experience in business development or sales, ideally in technology or healthcare
Self-motivated, energetic, positive and excited to be on the phone
Ability to build meaningful rapport through phone and email communication
Ability to condense complex product information into concise value statements in order to generate prospect interest
Experience with Salesforce, HubSpot or other CRM tool
Demonstrated interest in building a career in software/technology sales
Excellent listening skills with the ability to ask insightful questions, guide conversations, and nurture relationships
Able to take feedback and learn quickly from senior sales leaders
Organized, detail-oriented, and a proven track record of excellent documentation
Collaborative mindset with a willingness to support tasks that will ensure the success of the broader sales team
Intellectual curiosity with a desire to learn and grow both professionally and in the Business Development role
Thrive in a goal-driven incentive-based environment
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Resourceful, using every tool available to gather information, identify contacts, and establish relationships with prospective customers
