Job Description

Sound is looking for a talented technical writer who will work alongside solution engineers to produce detailed example audit documentation on compliant reference architectures.

Leveraging these documents, lead the team in creating policy and procedure documentation.

This position will focus primarily on the documentation and publication of IT policies, procedures, workflows, and user guides that meet Legal and Compliance and Risk approval.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organize existing documentation into a logical flow
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Product Managers to identify documentation gaps
  • Gather feedback about documentation, identify areas of improvement, and implement solutions
  • Empower others to write good documentation via templates, style guides, and clear information architecture
  • Identify cross-linking opportunities between policy documentation and procedures and product user guidelines and standards

 

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, TRAINING OR SPECIAL LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB:

  • Writing and editing effective informational and educational materials
  • Interviewing subject-matter experts and using your knowledge to develop, edit, and revise documentation
  • Independently performing professional project and programmatic work in the area to which assigned
  • Using initiative and independent judgment within general policy guidelines
  • Contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team or work-unit goals, objectives, and activities
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work
  • Using tact, discretion, and prudence in dealing with those contacted in the course of the work.

 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in writing, journalism, English, communications, engineering, biology, chemistry, or another relevant field
  • 3-5 years of experience in technical writing in one or more of the following industries: medical field; pharmaceutical; clinical; biotechnology; software development.
  • 3-5 years of experience converting and translating technical instructions and information into content intended for a variety of audiences and levels

 

SPECIAL JOB OR ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

  • Indoor office environment
  • Possible work requirements on weekends or beyond normal daytime work hours on an as needed basis
