Job Description

Our voice AI platform, Houndify, is driving the growth of our business by enabling large-scale enterprise partners to add a custom branded voice assistant to their products. From automotive leaders like Mercedes, Honda, and Hyundai, to IoT and Telecom providers like Deutsche Telekom and Harman, to music streaming services like Pandora – we’re working together to bring a voice-enabled product experience to life.

We are looking for an experienced Business Development Director to help SoundHound further to grow its presence in the automotive sector. Reporting to the Vice President, Business Development, this is a unique opportunity to integrate an industry-ready voice AI solution tailored to automotive needs, including industry-leading speech recognition, wake words, NLU, and integrated knowledge domains across over a dozen languages.

The ideal candidate has been immersed in the automotive industry and is equally adept at building relationships as they are working with world-class engineers developing groundbreaking technology.

In this role you will:

  • Identify, develop and close new business opportunities and strategic partnerships in the automotive industry, including EV and Tier 1
  • Structure, negotiate and manage all aspects of the deal process
  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan/pipeline for automotive
  • Analyze market requirements, synergies with product roadmaps, profitability, and internal priorities
  • Work collaboratively with various engineering and product teams to ensure all closed deals have proper transition from sale to delivery/management
  • Manage technical sales opportunities and initiatives
  • Actively evangelize the SoundHound story and solutions

We would love to hear from you if:

  • You have 10+ years of proven experience managing and closing complex sales cycles
  • You have a BA or BS, ideally with a concentration in technology
  • You have a deep expertise and knowledge of the automotive industry
  • You have excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • You have a strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills
  • You have experience in writing proposals, RFP/RFQ responses, and contract negotiation
  • You have strong client-facing management skills – ability to build and manage executive level relationships
  • You have the ability to engage, influence and collaborate with different divisions in the company
  • You have detail orientation and proven execution experience
  • You deliver timely and high impact results with limited resources
  • Travel required

We’d be especially excited if you have exposure to Machine Learning, Voice AI, and Cloud/SaaS space, a technical background, or a master’s degree in a related field of study.
