Job Description
Under direct supervision of the provider and nursing leadership, performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to assist in the quality and compassionate kidney care provided to our patients.
Essential Functions
- Greeting and escorting of patients to the exam room;
- Measurement and recording of vital signs;
- Preparing patients for the examination/procedure;
- Assisting the provider during the examination/procedure.
- Front desk help---answering telephone calls;retrieving medical records from doctor’s offices; recording charts in the medical recor
- Inputs patient’s medication list in the EMR and updates accordingly.
- Update EMR to correctly reflect patient’s pharmacy preference.
- Records patient’s medical history, allergies, family history, social history, reason for visit, and information such as test results, patient complaints, prescription refills and physician orders in the medical record.
- Appointment scheduling – intital appointment and reschedule no show patients
- Patient intake and check out
- Insurance verification;
- Patient appointment reminders
- Comply with quality assurance practices.
- Collect and process specimens.
- Perform CLIA waived/non-waived tests
- Administer vaccines as allowe/dictated by state requlations
- Clean(sanitize) and restock exam rooms after eachpatient exam and at the beginning and end of each work
- Keep logs of all tests ordered.
- Run lab controls daily
- Print lab orders.
- Distribute lab results, reports, etc. to appropriate physicians.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information and records at all times.
- Completes patients registration including verifying consents, demographic information
- Pharmacy and prescription follow ups
- Dressing changes
- Perform specialized testing such as EKGs, vision screening and hearing tests
- Enter data from monitoring and tracking systems such and vaccine and medication refrigerators, sterilization devices and other quality or safety data
- Ensure that medical waste is placed in the correct receptacle and that the receptacles are emptied regularly.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- BLS Certification
- Graduate from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) Medical Assistant Program, OR Graduate of a formal medical assistant program, OR Graduate of a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program.
- 2 years clinical experience, ie; hospital, doctor’s office, clinic, etc…
- 2 years experience in lab collection, EKGs, and other office tests
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills as related to ambulatory patient care.
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Detail oriented and highly organized individual
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and problem solve
- Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
- Customer service experience
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Skilled at dealing with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment
- Communicates clearly, respectfully, and thoughtfully
