JOB OVERVIEW

As a Senior Manager of Site Reliability Engineering, you will provide leadership and guidance to AvidXchange’s ability to modernize product operations improving the customer experience.

 

The ideal candidate must have an extensive background in running an enterprise level SRE/DevOps transformation where development teams are transformed from a traditional Operations based team to a self-run autonomous team. The Senior Manager will also be responsible for leading the revolution and establishing a quality Site Reliability Engineering practice, mindset and culture with the team with an eye towards customer satisfaction.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish a Site Reliability Practice with necessary guardrails

  • Collaborate with Platform Engineering, Development Engineering and business teams to understand the site reliability requirements, establish and implement them.

  • Create an environment that promotes learning; enabling resources to resolve and remove their own obstacles, while supporting individuals and teams to learn from failing fast.

  • Employ a collaborative leadership style, one that focuses on developing clear OKRs for the team and career path for team members.

  • Attract, recruit, and retain capable individuals to build high-performant teams; establish mission and purpose for individuals and teams.

  • Perform career coaching and personal development; evaluate performance, including team input; provide guidance and corrective actions.

  • Create an environment of transparency where the data driven decision making is key

  • Manage personnel actions, that. Includes career development, upskilling and career paths for the traditional operations engineers

  • Collaborate with leadership to update monthly financial updates and forecasts of various types

  • Contribute to building a high-performance organization to meet or exceed goals.

  • Contribute to policy level discussions regarding standards, processes, metrics, long range plans and budgeting, and other policy items as required

  • Lead and drive initiatives to create operational efficiencies, cost reductions, enhanced automation, enhanced system reliability and application insights.

  • Lead and drive the revolution from traditional Operations processes, practices, mindset and culture into one of true Site Reliability Engineering.

  • Lead the establishment of standardized and reliable monitoring practices that will feed into alerting and automated service restoration.

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Required Experience, Qualifications, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related field and 7+ years of enterprise software development and/or SRE/DevOps realm with 5+ years of leadership experience; or 8+ years of enterprise software development and/or SaaS Operations experience with 5+ years of leadership experience

  • Experience supervising professional Engineering staff through large complex projects that deals with agile lifecycle

  • Significant understanding and knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the software engineering and architecture field

  • Experience and understanding of enterprise level agile processes and agile transformational activities

  • Broad exposure to variety of industry frameworks, tools, and technologies utilized in implementing and supporting reliable, modern enterprise software solutions
