Job Description

Picarro is seeking an accomplished Sr. Staff Software Engineer to build the next generation of our recently introduced flagship suite of products for Picarro. Picarro is building transformational data analytics platform that allows the customer to conduct analytics based on data collected by Picarro’s sensors.  
 
Job Summary:
This position requires a technically broad, hands-on Sr. Staff SW Engineering to lead the 3rd Party Data Integration effort and to help us in the transformation to support a growing SW engineering team in developing our expanding line of solutions. The desired candidate has exceptional technical skills, can clearly communicate information at various levels, and has a record of releasing world-class enterprise products.  He/she has the ability to see the big picture from both the technical and business perspectives.  He/she possesses leadership skills to scale the team to fit business needs, has enough of the business acumen to understand the implications, and has the foresight to help strategize and lead the team in aligning to the business objectives. This position reports to the VP of Engineering.

Responsibilities
  • Full evaluation of our current data model and the different data schema we use for our products
  • Get a full handle on our current data flow from end to end
  • Build the top-down abstraction layer between our instrument and 3rd party instrumentations
  • Optimize the data model for IOT based devises
  • Implement 3rd party data integration layer
  • Work closely with our Host SW team
  • Work with the team to define an end-to-end SW implementation
  • Work closely with Product, Engineering, Sales & Customer support to establishes and maintain overall product requirements
  • Agile, Scrum, Continuous Integration, TTD
  • Have experience driving complex cross-functional projects at deeply technical software companies
  • Have Customer support engineering or equivalent background; able to understand technical dependencies
  • Strong analytical skills, with excellent problem-solving abilities in the face of ambiguity
  • Listens well. You build consensus by default but can drive hard decisions when needed
  • Entrepreneurial, "can do" attitude, ability, and willingness to make an impact in a start-up organization
  • Communicate project status and escalate issues to direct managers, program managers, and internal and external development partners
Requirements
  • 10+ yrs. industry experience in software development
  • 5+ yrs. hands-on and leadership experience in data ingestion and organization
  • Strong hands-on experience on OpenCV, Python libraries for AI/ML model training and deployment.
  • Strong hands-on experience of distributed computing architecture around processing frameworks like spark, storm etc. and computation on Elasticsearch, Cassandra, Mongodb, AWS S3 and Hadoop based cloud clusters.
  • Expertise in implementing containerized applications using Kubernetes on cloud infrastructure.
  • Good knowledge on implementation details of Elasticsearch based search-indexing engines.
  • Strong technical experience with Python or Java based, enterprise-class software and/or appliance/instrumentation products.
  • Excellent project delivery experience using Agile software development methodologies.
Education
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Engineering or equivalent
