About the role

We’re looking for an experienced and well-rounded communications professional to join Metromile’s growing Communications team. The position will be fully remote to start; upon our return to office, our preference would be a candidate who can be based out of our Tempe or San Francisco office. The position reports to the VP of Communications. 

From fractional car ownership to new modes of transportation, the way we get around is dramatically changing.  As car ownership changes, it gives us an opportunity to reimagine car insurance. We’re now nearly 250 employees strong, working remotely in more than 20 states. Our customer experience and claims teams are all based in-house. 

In this role, you will work closely with a variety of internal stakeholders -- from the executive team to your Comms team colleagues to key partners across Customer Experience, Sales, Claims, Talent, People Ops, Marketing, Design, Technology and more.

You Will

  • Take a leading role in helping engage, inspire, educate, and align our employees across multiple time zones in a fully remote environment
  • Partner with Leadership team and other employees to source, write, edit and design compelling written, video, audio and presentations, including All-Hands, Leadership Q&As, events and employee wikis and newsletters
  • Develop and manage tools that help us scale employee communications
  • Work with People Ops to continuously improve internal programs, such as onboarding, recognition, and ongoing employee engagement
  • Work with Talent team to cultivate employer brand and support recruiting objectives, including tactics such as applying for best-in-class or great place to work awards, sourcing stories that feature our employees, and supporting ERGs
  • Partner with customer-facing teams and PR to identify interesting customer stories, data trends, and more -- that can be broadly shared across channels 
  • Serve as key liaison among Comms, Product and agent teams. Stay abreast of our product and company news to ensure agents are equipped and customers are informed (eg, prepare call scripts, Help Center articles, etc)
  • Take part in enhancing our content library across channels, from blog posts to customer newsletters and FAQs

About You

You have…

  • 4-6 years communications experience in agency environments and/or in-house
  • A toolbox of modern approaches to employee engagement
  • strong organizational and time management skills
  • experience counseling and ghostwriting for senior executives 
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills across a variety of channels
  • a track record of wins: awards won, goals surpassed, OKRs met
