Datavant is seeking a Government-focused business development lead to create and execute the company’s business development plan for federal, state, and local government partnerships, and to partner with government, government contractors, and related vendors to formulate new real world data linkage opportunities. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience working with government agencies in the healthcare sector, specializing in real-world data initiatives, data interoperability and sharing initiatives, including collaborative research networks, registries, and data commons.

This role is part of Datavant’s Strategy group as a leading player in our Health System, Government, and Research team

Responsibilities:

Expand upon existing relationships with key stakeholders (i.e FDA, CDC, NIH, CMS, etc.) to build a pipeline and drive revenue growth.
Own and lead accounts within federal, state, and local government to drive revenue-generating projects, including the RFP and RFA processes for contract and grant opportunities with our research partners
Shape opportunities and establish value-added teaming strategies with key industry partners and vendors.
Develop positioning and marketing strategies that align with the company’s strategic plan.
Formulate innovative participation models to accelerate data-driven research between federal and state government, interagency federal initiatives, and between government and the private sector.
Strong familiarity and experience with the strategic roadmap and priorities of federal government agencies within the Health & Human Services, such as FDA, CMS, CDC, NIH, SAMHSA, HRSA, VA, DHA, and other agencies with social determinant data such as the Census Bureau, HRSA, EPA, HUD.
Collaborate closely with the company’s Product, Engineering, and Implementations teams to ensure government-focused solution and contracting requirements are met.

Qualifications:

8+ years experience working with government agencies and government contractors in the healthcare sector.
Experience crafting and closing deals related to data hubs, data networks, data commons, and data sharing.
Strong technical and scientific data acumen with the ability to navigate technical architectures, health informatics, and data governance considerations.
Strong competency in navigating data governance and security considerations related to Data Sharing and Use Agreements, Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements, HIPAA Safe Harbor and Expert Determination requirements, and Informed Consent.
Strong synthesizer and facilitator with demonstrated ability to lead and convene multi-disciplinary workgroups to rapidly problem solve and present compelling solutions to clients.
Experience leading and authoring RFP responses and grant proposals.

Preferred Experience:

Experience pursuing and establishing government contracting vehicles as necessary either in-house or through teaming agreements.
Demonstrated experience designing and consulting on technical architectures and data processing flows related to data sharing and aggregation
Demonstrated experience with government procurement and contracting at the federal and state level.
Ability to engage on key policy and advocacy matters on data sharing and privacy.
Advanced degree (e.g. MPH, MD, PhD, JD) desirable.
