We’re looking for a Health Researcher/Statistician who works to demonstrate Hinge Health’s positive impact on members’ engagement, pain, function, and other outcomes. This person will be part of a growing clinical research team and is our primary statistics consultant for both experimental and observational studies. The Health Researcher/Statistician has opportunities to pursue novel research methods about digital health using data collected via survey, app, and sensors. 
The ideal candidate will have a PhD (preferred) or Masters with significant work experience in statistics, health services research, psychology, or related field. We are looking for an individual who can see the "big picture" but is also willing to improve the details of our research process. The Health Researcher/Statistician balances study rigor, time efficiency, and pragmatic application of study results for commercial purposes. 


    • Designs valid experimental and observational studies that align with Hinge Health commercial, product, or research goals
    • Conducts studies efficiently, including planning for study operations, collecting primary data, managing and analyzing data, and interpreting results with commercial goals in mind.
    • Disseminates findings, including writing 2 to 3 articles for a peer-reviewed or trade journal.
    • Contributes to the design and conduct of cost studies.
    • Effectively manages multiple ad hoc requests about member engagement and outcomes.
    • Stays up to date with the latest research in musculoskeletal and digital health, and keeps the clinical team informed of important updates.


    • Analytic: You have designed and conducted experiments, longitudinal data analyses, and other hierarchical models. You keep up to date on emerging methods.
    • Analytic: You have used a variety of approaches to address missing data challenges.
    • Analytic: You use your understanding of scale development and psychometrics to inform study designs and analysis plans.
    • Communication: You communicate clearly in presentations about study methods and results and easily engage with technical staff and laypersons.
    • Communications and writing: You have written papers for peer-reviewed journals, particularly methods and results sections of manuscripts.
    • Project management and prioritization: You manage multiple projects at once from the discovery phase to execution within prescribed timelines, ensuring all success criteria are met
    • Insightful: You analyze data to provide meaningful insights and guide decisions.
    • Proactivity: You anticipate problems and opportunities.
