Job Description
We are a fast-paced and innovative venture-backed biotechnology company developing tomorrow’s breakthrough therapeutics at the interface of complex microbial communities and their host environments. We are leaders in microbial ecology, metagenomics, and computer science. We love fresh approaches, we value process validation, and we welcome peer review.
And we’re looking for a Scientist specializing in Molecular Biology.
You have a strong molecular biology background and the ability to characterize new drug candidates for our pipeline focused on IBD and Immuno-Oncology. The initial work will include testing and developing a bacterial drug delivery system and elucidating mechanism-of-action of novel proteins/peptides. This position requires a diverse set of skills, working at the interface of microbiology, biochemistry, and cell biology to enable us to move only the most promising molecules into the development pipeline.
How You’ll Impact the Company
- You will engineer and optimize bacterial strains for drug production.
- You will identify new host targets through your ability to decipher protein-protein interactions.
- You will analyze activity and stability of drug candidates, and use that information to engineer proteins/peptides to improve drug candidates.
- You will independently analyze scientific results, troubleshoot methods, and conceive creative solutions and workflows to address challenges.
- You will collaborate cross-functionally with Discovery, Protein Science, and Informatics teams to progress programs from lead selection through preclinical development.
What You Bring to the Role
- You have a Ph.D. degree in a relevant Biological Science (Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry).
- You have expertise with common molecular biology techniques including molecular cloning, vector design, DNA and RNA extraction, qPCR, DNA sequencing.
- You have experience with culturing and genetics of bacteria, as well as generating and analyzing mutants.
