Job Description

As an Outbound Account Executive within our Logistics vertical, you will practice with a strong desire to bring the power of digital, online processes to SMB logistics companies.  You will identify, call and create relationships with strategic customers and help them understand, realize and maximize the immense value of bringing their payments processing online with Melio.

You will have first hand experience  in logistics operations within a US logistics company (3PL, freight forwarder, brokerage), and passion for technology and continuous improvement.  You will also be able to nurture and develop long-lasting business relationships, as a trusted advisor who understands the true business needs, and can help your clients be successful through new technology and processes. 

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Identify and call target prospects within Melio's growing logistics industry practice, using a targeted and structured outbound approach which you will help us to create
  • Leverage your knowledge and experience of the freight and logistics operations to quickly analyze clients’ needs, how they can be improved, and to address them directly with the value of Melio 
  • Rapidly build durable business relationships with key people within your clients’ organizations
  • Assess prospect's current process and pain-points, prioritize their needs and tailor Melio pitch, demo and solution accordingly
  • Obtain initial commitment and buy-in to Melio  (in the form of account ‘activations’) from your clients
  • Create needs-assessments and identify adoption plans and strategies for future roll-out / expansion 

What we’d love to see: 

  • 2+ years first hand experience in logistics operations - preferably with payments (AP/AR experience within a brokerage, asset-based transportation company, freight or transportation factoring company, 3PL, freight forwarder, etc.)
  • Familiarity and comfort with logistics technology such as TMS and FMS, along with processes such as factoring
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and a tenacity to call on lists of prospective clients
  • Analytical and critical thinking which enables you to quickly discover the clients’ needs and identify the best path to value for them
  • Super comfortable to cold call, make a strong pitch and navigate your prospect to identify, and create relationships with, relevant people and decision makers
  • A dealmaker and closer, you are laser-focused on meeting monthly targets (calls, demos, new account activations), and serve as a focal point to develop the logistics vertical
  • Bonus points for knowledge of logistics-tech trends and innovations
