Alation is seeking to hiring an experienced, strategic and hands-on Senior Accounting Manager to partner with the team to build a great accounting organization. This is a great opportunity to help guide the build out of systems and the development of the accounting team for a global, pre-IPO, innovative tech company. Reporting to the Controller, this role is critical in supporting the Company's continued track record of strong growth and driving a scalable and efficient operation. This is a critical role that will be involved in development of accounting policies & procedures, management of the quote to cash process with an emphasis on A/P, A/R and month end close including design of international subsidiary consolidations, and many other accounting related activities.

Our ideal candidate will have extensive experience in revenue recognition at an enterprise software company, consolidation experience with multiple foreign subsidiaries, experience establishing sound accounting policies and procedures, hands on ERP system implementation experience, and strong leadership skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Company’s accounting organization
  • Enhance and expand the Company’s inter-company accounting and consolidations process through communication with local accountants and directing accounting team members
  • Participate in and direct the Company’s monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes
  • Assess, develop, and enhance the Company’s accounting policies and procedures and its system of internal controls
  • Collaborate with the Finance and Business Operations teams on reporting and systems initiatives
  • Participate in the implementation of scalable systems (ERP, sales tax, etc.) to accommodate the Company’s rapid growth
  • Assist in the Company’s quarterly and annual investor reporting
  • Direct and participate in the for preparation and the completion of the Company’s annual financial statement audit
  • Enjoys working in an agile, fast-paced, startup environment. Ability to wear multiple hats.
  • Participate in other ad hoc projects, as necessary

Qualifications:

    • 10+ years of experience in corporate accounting, preferably in enterprise software or SaaS businesses
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field; MBA or master’s degree in Accounting a plus; Big 4 CPA a plus
    • Experience in scaling a startup accounting organization
    • Demonstrated leadership skills; We have a very collaborative and inclusive culture and we advocate servant leadership
    • Effective communication and relationship building skills as we deal with team members at every level of the organization
    • Able to work with and analyze large data sets
    • Proficient with previous Cloud/SaaS software 
    • Experience with implementing a top tier ERP system, ideally NetSuite
    • A combination of private and public company experience is highly desired
    • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment, solve complicated problems, motivated to implement improvements, to inspire change while staying within the company’s culture being collaborative and inclusive
