Job Description

Elemental Machines is building the next generation of embedded devices for sensing the physical world, and we’re looking for engineers to join our team who can help us deliver high-reliability, scalable, and beautifully architected products on a tight timeline to help accelerate biotech, pharma, and clinical applications. We’re a dedicated team of radical thinkers that want to help accelerate how science is done by building products and services to streamline and automate scientific and lab operations. Role & Responsibilities

As the senior hardware engineer on the Devices team, you will be architecting the next generation of ambient sensors for the laboratory environment and beyond. You will work closely with the design team to deliver power and space optimized sensing technologies, as well leading firmware development and working directly with CMs to ensure a quality product. We will also rely on you to stay abreast of the newest developments in the field to ensure that cutting-edge tech makes it into our next line of hardware offerings.


  • BS Degree in Electrical or Computer engineering
  • 5+ years work experience bringing hardware products to market
  • Experience designing and troubleshooting analog and digital circuits
  • Knowledge of CAD tools (e.g. SPICE) for circuit design
  • Experience bringing PCBAs from schematic through test to production
  • Experience writing firmware in C/C++, using multiple toolchains on multiple hardware platforms
  • Experience with bare-metal and RTOS programming
  • Knowledge of common communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN)
  • Knowledge of various physical sensing technologies (e.g. accelerometer, light sensors, etc.)


  • Experience with SolidWorks
  • RF design experience
  • Experience working directly with CMs to deliver products on time
  • Proficiency with Git
  • Working knowledge of digital signal processing techniques
  • Experience working with Bluetooth/BLE at the firmware level
