Airlift is building the world’s first decentralized logistics platform with transit and delivery solutions that enable and empower local communities. The Senior Software Engineer (iOS) role at Airlift requires a highly driven enthusiast and leader with 4-6 years of experience of working in native iOS application, be responsible for design, architecture, highly structured development and deployment of all iOS apps at Airlift.

 

About the Role:

Airlift iOS apps are currently used by over a million users. There are exceptionally high expectations on speed of development, quality of execution, depth and scalability of design and overall application robustness. These applications need to be built on continuously improving architectures. Successful candidates will have a proven history of hands on development on iOS platform and building successful apps and architectures using Swift, strong ability to introduce and implement best practices in mobile teams, and the ability to mentor and inspire mobile team engineers to grow.

 

The Senior Software Engineer (iOS) will be expected to have the following capabilities: 

 

  • Super proactive, hands on development of iOS architecture, identification and promotion of best practices across the engineering organization through personal initiative and example, rather than delegation,
  • Extreme ownership of identifying complex business problems, translation of the business problems into efficient algorithms and solutions by simplifying them. Own the development and deadlines of getting these features to production,
  • Being an outstanding leader and mentor. Train, develop and mentor junior programmers on technical and organizational skills. Share articles, inculcate curiosity of exploring improvement in all aspects of development,
  • Thinking in terms of reusable processes, library and framework creations,
  • Building of processes that help produce reliable and consistent outcomes,
  • Proactive long-term effort for review of code, architecture and designs to identify and resolve complex, meaningful problems for Airlift’s Android application in line with Airlift’s mission and strategy.
  • Create a culture of reading, exploring, training and development for the iOS team to help them increase their impact on any new iOS based development.

 

Requirements:

 

Successful candidates in this role will lead with a number of core competencies, including:

 

  • In-depth awareness of latest OS level developments in iOS and Android platforms and ability to compare and suggest solutions to problems,
  • Expert-level knowledge of most widely used designs and architectures in iOS like MVVM, VIPER etc. 
  • Hands-on experience with Swift and Objective C, workflow automation, Unit/UI Testing, as well as with CoreData, Realm or other data persistence frameworks
  • Ability to produce high quality output in a super fast development environment.
  • Clear understanding of changes being introduced with new versions of technology, new directions being taken up by Apple, changing criteria of AppStore, recommended patterns and restrictions, 
  • Contributor to the iOS community, via blogs, code etc.,
  • 4-6 years of hands-on experience with development on the iOS platform,
  • BS in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
