About the Role:

The DevOps Support Engineer is a key role responsible for implementing, monitoring, fixing and escalating mission-critical infrastructure lifeline issues. Given Airlift’s emphasis on Cloud technologies, the role requires a combination of sound technical skills and strong interpersonal, communication and time management skills. A lot of Airlift’s core architecture relies on web-based technologies and to ensure that Airlift's systems are available 24/7 all year round, the DevOps Support team works around the clock (in multiple shifts) in collaboration with the DevOps Engineering team. The support engineer will be a member of the DevOps Support team, responsible for supporting application releases, deployment, configuration activities and 24/7 monitoring and uptime. 

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting and fixing key infrastructure issues on the cloud as they arise throughout the day (and night),
  • Maintaining various already setup environments according to AWS best practices including: maintenance of Cloudfront distributions, S3 buckets and policies, IAM management, Route53 DNS settings, ALB configurations and health checks, Elastic Beanstalk environments, ECS Fargate, RDS, Cloudwatch Dashboards and Logs, Elasticache, EC2 instances and AWS native CI/CD.
  • Identifying issues via Cloudwatch Logs, Athena and Dashboards and escalating them to the technology team, (having experience of setting up Athena, Cloudwatch will be a huge plus) 
  • Monitoring the deployment of new modules and fixes to the different environment at any time and identifying the root cause if they fail.

 

Requirements:

  • BS level technical degree required; Computer Science or Mathematics background preferred,
  • At least 6 months of AWS Cloud computing experience,
  • Basics of programming knowledge / syntax familiarity (NodeJS, PHP, Python, and Linux),
  • Experience with creating and executing automation processes, cloud infrastructure troubleshooting, Linux/Unix Administration, SQL and NoSQL databases, Elastic Search, Logstash and Kibana, Performance Testing and Security Testing, and APM Tools,
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills,
  • Ability to understand and follow the daily support rotations and escalation matrix,
  • Key understanding of the significance of 24/7 uptime,
  • Capability to understand and learn tier1, tier2, tier(n) support.
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service,
  • AWS Certifications is preferred.
