Job Description

As part of the Client Solutions Team, the Opportunity Manager (OM) works closely with the Sr. Director, Client Solutions Directors, Solutions Architects, Principals, other operations team subject matter experts (SMEs), and external partners to support proposal and business development efforts that result in customized, winning proposals. The Opportunity Manager will coordinate BD activities for qualified opportunities throughout the BD lifecycle from qualified to close using Salesforce.com and the Microsoft suite of applications.

The OM facilitates pre-sale planning, orchestrates the proposal development process, and coordinates post-submission activities including preparation for finalist presentations. The OM manages the proposal development process and is accountable for submitting RFP compliant proposals that reflect Nexant’s strategic vision and win themes on time.

To develop a proposal, the Opportunity Manager will direct, coordinate, and manage a proposal development team that includes subject matter experts (SMEs), client solutions, and operations staff. Opportunity Manager will manage all aspects of the proposal development effort, including project management and coordination, writing the scope of work, coordinating budget development and color reviews, proposal design, and compliance management. The OM must support proposal development activities by interviewing SMEs and creating original content and graphics, customizing existing proposal content, editing content written by proposal development team, copy editing, and formatting. Position requires exceptional attention to detail and quality control.

The Opportunity Manager ensures that all information presented in a proposal is accurate, positively reflects the company’s capabilities, win themes, and meets the RFP/RFI’s objectives and submission requirements. The Opportunity Manager will also be responsible for following established proposal development processes and procedures, coordinating tasks among multiple people to meet applicable deadlines, interviewing internal and external subject matter experts, and scheduling and assisting with proposal production activities. The Opportunity Manager must have the ability to manage and coordinate multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.

The OM will use the proposal development process to also develop finalist presentations.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities

Meet all RFP required milestones.

Submit RFP compliant proposals that reflect Nexant win themes, corporate identity, branding, accurate content, and messaging on time.

Coordinate pre-sale, proposal, and post-submission activities throughout a qualified opportunity’s lifecycle.

Maintain and update critical sales management tools such as Salesforce, SharePoint, and others

Read and analyze RFPs/RFIs.

Manage the overall proposal and finalist presentation development processes from concept to completion, including draft generation, coordinating and collecting information from in-house subject matter experts and external partners, and color reviews.

Manage the scheduling and production of deliverables.

Facilitate the legal review process and ensure feedback is appropriately incorporated into the proposal response.

Facilitate budget development activities including budget review meetings and ensuring final budget approval at the appropriate level within Nexant.

Interview SMEs to develop customized proposal content that is compliant with the RFP/RFI,

persuasive, compelling, and supports strategies and win themes.

Work effectively across a geographically dispersed team in a fully virtual environment to develop a compelling proposal

Follow established proposal and presentation development processes and procedures

Provide technical writing, editing, and/or proofreading as needed.

Provide quality assurance for all documents and materials.

Produce, assemble, ship, and/or deliver the proposal on time in accordance with RFP/RFI requirements, including the use of online procurement portals

Responsible for high-quality content and appearance of the final proposal product and the on-time delivery of the proposal

Update and maintain proposal content library

Contribute to lessons learned and document and implement actions to improve overall process

Nights, weekends, and travel as required accommodating workload and meeting delivery of deadline-driven projects

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Marketing, English, Journalism, Communications, or related field OR at least five years demonstrated and related experience in writing and editing large, complex proposals; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

3+ years of experience developing, writing, producing and managing materials in response to RFPs

Background in writing and communications for technical, service-oriented companies

Knowledge of energy engineering and efficiency programs a plus

The Qualified Candidate will also demonstrate the following:

Superior time management and organizational capabilities, including the ability to accurately benchmark project length and manage a high-volume workload

Exceptional Writing skills and an ability to process complex technical information and create customized, persuasively written text / graphics for inclusion in a proposal.

Exemplary project management skills and an ability to coordinate and communicate with large, virtual teams that include Nexant staff and external partners to ensure clear role definition and expectations, and that internal and external due dates are achieved.

Strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the company and external business partners

The ability to work under pressure and meet concrete deadlines

Persistence in problem solving, self-motivation, and an ability to understand complex material and explain it clearly

Solid reading comprehension with ability to decipher technical descriptions into accessible language

Superior attention to detail

Knowledge of and experience with internet research, SharePoint, Salesforce.com, and advanced abilities in the Microsoft Office suite of software, and Adobe Acrobat.
