What we are looking for:

Stem’s product management team drives the roadmap and execution of Stem’s core capabilities. We work daily across engineering, sales, and operations teams to create company value through technology development. Successful product managers at Stem are entrepreneurial, becoming champions of our products and taking ownership over success and failure alike.

Our team is searching for a Senior Technical Product Manager to own the roadmap and execution of our Data Platform. Data from Stem devices, customers, and third party integrations is core to our business execution and this product manager will be responsible for a broad range of capabilities to normalize, persist, secure, and provide access to our data. The candidate will work in tandem with Stem’s data architect and cloud platform team to build new capabilities core to Stem’s customer services and will own Stem’s external APIs as a product. Stem is growing quickly, and there is an opportunity for the right candidate to grow into a managerial role.

Required Skills

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a roadmap for the evolution of Stem’s data platform, keeping alignment with both Stem’s commercial product roadmaps and engineering leadership
  • Own the development of Stem’s core data platform, including:
    • Management of incoming data from Stem site telemetry and external data sources
    • Presentation and organization of data for internal/external users and applications
  • Perform detailed discovery with internal and external stakeholders
  • Lead cross-functional teams and coordinate with other internal organizations
  • Document requirements and prioritize the backlog in partnership with engineering and QA team members
Required Experience

Required Experience:

  • 3+ years product management experience
  • Experience owning customer-facing REST APIs as a product
  • Experience with cloud development, IoT, and big data frameworks
  • Experience leading major product initiatives from inception through execution: setting vision, leading product discovery and design discussions, defining roadmap, managing releases, and tracking success metrics
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Master’s degree in Science or Business
  • Understanding of multiple functional areas, including engineering, sales, customer operations, finance, and marketing
  • Experience managing a team, and specifically managing other product managers
  • Experience with the development and operations of energy storage and other distributed energy resources
  • Ability to set and achieve strategic goals using research and data
