Job Description

After setting up a Pandemic Response Lab (PRL) in New York to help with testing capabilities, Opentrons is looking to staff another PRL location in the D.C. area. PRL D.C. will be a state of the art high complexity lab dedicated to processing COVID-19 tests with results within 24-48 hours. <span ":="" 10.5pt"="">This posting is for first shift, 7am-3:30pm. In this role you will be responsible for the following duties:

      <li "list-style-type:="" disc"="">

<span ":="" 10.5pt"="">Daily testing of patient samples in all areas of the clinical laboratory according to established policies and procedures

      <li "list-style-type:="" disc"="">

<span ":="" 10.5pt"="">Operation of computerized and automated instrumentation, quality control and maintenance, quality assurance and test results distribution

      <li "list-style-type:="" disc"="">

<span ":="" 10.5pt"="">Picks up samples from accessioning and sorts samples into appropriate racks

      <li "list-style-type:="" disc"="">

<span ":="" 10.5pt"="">Sorts samples and distributes them to the appropriate setup hood

      <li "list-style-type:="" disc"="">

<span ":="" 10.5pt"="">Manages specimen library within established time frames

      <li "list-style-type:="" disc"="">

<span ":="" 10.5pt"="">Prepares samples for processing for RNA Isolation or RT-PCR processing

      <li "list-style-type:="" disc"="">

<span ":="" 10.5pt"="">Unpacks and stores reagents and supplies

      <li "list-style-type:="" disc"="">

<span ":="" 10.5pt"="">Inventories and orders warehouse supply items

      <li "list-style-type:="" disc"="">

<span ":="" 10.5pt"="">Decontaminates work areas as designated

      <li "list-style-type:="" disc"="">

<span ":="" 10.5pt"="">Maintains work area in clean and organized condition

      <li "list-style-type:="" disc"="">

<span ":="" 10.5pt"="">Maintains designated laboratory equipment

      <li "list-style-type:="" disc"="">

<span ":="" 10.5pt"="">Uses various laboratory computer systems for labeling, inquiry, crediting, and resulting as needed

      <li "list-style-type:="" disc"="">

<span ":="" 10.5pt"="">Disposes of biohazard and chemical waste

      <li "list-style-type:="" disc"="">

<span ":="" 10.5pt"="">Discards specimens weekly

      <li "list-style-type:="" disc"="">

<span ":="" 10.5pt"="">Ad-hoc projects as directed by Management team.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. MD or DO with a current medical license¹; OR
2. Doctoral degree in clinical laboratory science, chemical, physical or biological science; OR
3. Master's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical, or biological science; OR
4. Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical or biological; OR
5. Associate degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory or equivalent education and training; OR
6. Individuals performing high complexity testing on or before April 24, 1995 with a high school diploma or equivalent with documented training may continue to perform testing only on those tests for which training was documented prior to September 1, 1997 OR

Individual previously qualified or could have qualified as a technologist under CFR.493.1489 and CFR.493.1491 on or before February 28, 1992

  • Must possess technical competence and high integrity.

  • Strong communications skills – written, verbal, and listening.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
