Requirements

Kaltura is looking for a Video Broadcasting Engineer. He / She will work with Kaltura clients and the engineering team on live video streaming projects, such as Virtual events and Town Halls, setting up the best streaming workflow. Candidates must be passionate about technology, live customer service, have great troubleshooting skills, and have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Must understand the benefits of the various event formats, as well as how to execute these formats flawlessly. The engineer will set up and test all equipment along with setting up test streams and producing post-show analytics reports.

As a Video Broadcasting Engineer at Kaltura, your day-to-day will include:

  • Provide technical direction for the planning, scheduling, and delivery of streaming services
  • Develop streaming solutions that improve reliability, scale, and performance of live streams across a global team
  • Liaise with Kaltura video engineering teams, applying significant knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve service to our clients
  • Keep project managers well informed of the status of event support efforts and serve as a liaison between Kaltura and its clients for any live broadcasting issue
  • Owns the technical support lifecycle and is responsible for managing technical risks throughout support planning and delivery, providing high-quality, high-impact services to clients
  • Set up test stream to desired streaming platforms
  • Set up and test streaming encoders and decoders
  • Debug and troubleshoot video and streaming problems
  • Produce post-show analytics reports

 

Recommended Experience::

  • Demonstrate professional knowledge of video technologies, including production and post-production workflows
  • 3+ years of experience working with IP protocols (HTTP, TS via multicast, RTMP, RTSP) for live streaming delivery
  • 3+ years of experience setting up A/V environments, from stage to broadcast. Familiarity with mixing solutions (e.g. Blackmagic) and production equipment.
  • Have worked directly with video (e.g., VP8/H.264), and audio (e.g. AVC), and know-how the codecs work, what their limitations are, and how best to utilize them in a real-time system
  • Experience working with different encoders (e.g. OBS, Elemental, Wirecast, Haivision, Teradek, etc.)
  • Deep knowledge of networking, and real-world experience with dealing with the unpredictability and variability of the internet (e.g., packet loss, latency, bandwidth estimation, FEC)
  • Knowledge of AWS Elemental, including MediaLive, MediaPackage, etc.
  • Working knowledge of command-line tools for video diagnosis such as FFmpeg, mp4box, x264, mediastreamvalidator, etc.
  • Experienced in advanced video compression and transport system technologies.
  • Experience coding in one or more scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, etc.)
  • Experience consuming REST-based APIs
  • Have the user in mind with all the work that you do
  • Be a strong communicator and explaining complex technical concepts to designers, support, and other engineers
