Job Description

The Assistant Synch Clearance will be responsible for providing clearance support and successfully handling synchronization licenses originating out of North America and Latin America, including Independent and Student Films, Internet-based Requests, non-profit and other requests and special projects as designated.  The position will be responsible for finalizing synch licenses within their assigned media and client base, and will play an important role in handling a high volume of requests for Kobalt of its clients.  The role is Los Angeles based and will report into the Director, Synch Clearance.

WHAT DOES AN ASSISTANT, SYNCH CLEARANCE AT KOBALT DO?

 

Handle general synch requests and explain the synch licensing process to prospective licensees for TV productions, film festivals, non-profits, gratis and student requests, and other projects as designated.

Finalize various forms of synchronization licensing requests (master and publishing) within assigned media areas for the territories of North America and Latin America.

Effectively communicate with Kobalt clients to obtain approval for synchronization licensing requests.

Process high volumes of music clearances and client requests in a timely manner.

Support Synch Admin to log, maintain and manage synch licensing deals in Kobalt’s internal database as needed.

Troubleshoot split discrepancies and work with negotiators and client admin team to overcome issues.

Develop a strong level of knowledge for Kobalt’s internal rights management system and database.

Attend key internal and/or external meetings as deemed necessary by your supervisor(s).

Monitor and act on changing trends, terms and strategies used by production companies to clear and license music.

 

WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ARE WE LOOKING FOR? 

 

Minimum one-year experience in the music industry, required.

At least one-year experience in music licensing, preferred.

Working knowledge of music copyright, preferred.

Must be able to communicate effectively with others in person and via email.

Must be able to work with minimal supervision, and possess excellent organization, written and oral communication skills. 

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel).

Bachelor's Degree, required.
